The most famous rock formation is the iconic “Queen’s Head”, a mushroom rock that resembles the profile of England’s Queen Elizabeth. We enjoyed our full day tour of attractions near Taipei. The Yehliu Geopark is extraordinary, the Shifen waterfall is charming if not quite “Little Niagara”, and the traditional lantern launching was an enjoyable and interesting cultural experience (although we worried a bit about its ecological impact). Jiufen didn’t live up to its hype for us, but we were pleased to have gone. The only problem for us was that from our position towards the back of the bus it was difficult to hear the guide over the noise of the engine and conversations amongst the other travellers. A shame but it did not detract too much from what was otherwise an enjoyable and interesting trip.

Our tour guide, Christina, was very friendly. The bus was comfortable and with AC. I would recommend this tour to others.

Our guide was difficult to understand and was talking too much. It's about quality of information, not quantity.

Ting was exceptional and knowledgeable about the history and nature of the locations. She’s also very helpful and makes sure everyone is taken care of. My kids learnt a great deal and feels their mandarin improved through the interactions. If you are bringing kids, it’s great to get a private tour and travel at your own pace.

Julee is a very good tour guide, interesting to listen to her stories making it more personable, even though there were times we couldn’t understand her English. She is very knowledgeable in Taiwan history and facts. Market was interesting to see all the venders products, however lunch was mediocre for our party. We did enjoy the history and would definitely recommend.

What a great trip! The pick-up went smoothly even better as it was a short walk to the meeting point and our fellow travellers proved to be very friendly. Kevin was our guide and he was excellent, very good English and very knowledgeable all things Taiwan. Our first stop was the coastal geocentre of Yehliu. The sandstone coastline is being eroded away creating fascinating “sculptures” including the queens head. The coastline is stunning and despite the light rain I found it amazing. We then travelled to the village ofJiufen which was an old gold-mining town. By now the rain was pelting down but didn’t stop us from walking the market trying the local delicacies and finishing off with a beef brith which was delicious. The rain lessened when we went to see the curtain waterfall, the “ little Niagara Falls”of Shifen which was impressive in its own way. Lastly we went to the village of Pingxi to light a lantern for our wishes to be send up into the air- too much of a commercial thing for me. Overall we had a fab time, did 11k steps without noticing, a really great trip.

The trip was really good and the guide Walter was very careful to count heads before moving onto the next attraction. Each place we visited was quite different which made the whole day more interesting. I went on a Sunday and that meant more visitors to each place, which was the only issue with this trip. The day was very enjoyable all round.

I really enjoyed the tour with the guide Walter. The stunning misty mountains of Pingxi district, the waterfalls will stay in my memory forever. The itinerary is well planned and I had enough time for the sightseeing, lunch and shopping. The bus was super comfortable with a footrest and a cup holder. I would purchase this tour again if I am in Taipei again.

The itinerary was great — all the stops were different and unique. I just wish our guide, Tony, had been a bit more engaged and shared more about the places we visited, as well as how to make the most of our time at each stop. For example, at Yehliu Geopark, we missed the chance to take a photo with the iconic “Queen’s Head” rock formation because of the long line — it would’ve helped if Tony had advised us to head there first or allowed more time at that stop. He also didn’t mention that we could hike down to the base of Shifen Waterfall — I only found out from another guide on my way back, so I missed that opportunity. That said, the places themselves were absolutely awesome and well worth visiting!
