What To Expect
Cathedral Basilica of Matera
We will visit the Cathedral of Matera, an example of Apulian Romanesque style and dedicated to the Madonna delle Bruna. The latter is the Marian effigy dearest to the people of Matera and is celebrated during the homonymous festival on 2 July.
Casa Grotta di Vico Solitario
We will enter a cave house "inhabiting it" for a few moments like Matera from other times. We will become one with the thought of the now disappeared peasant civilization for a small emotional journey. The visit also includes admission to the neviera and the rock church of S: Agostino al Casalnuovo. NB. in case this particular cave house is inaccessible, another equivalent one will be visited

5.00We are two couples of friends and a little dog. During our trip, we stayed in Matera for two days and took advantage of the guided tour offered by Zirlio. From the very first contacts, we received precise and detailed information about the tour. We chose to have a private guide just for us, and I must say we could not have met a better guide. Sara, our guide, conveyed all her love for this city, in addition to being very knowledgeable and ready to answer all our curiosities. Sara made us spend 3 wonderful hours, taking us into the heart of Matera, its origins, and its evolution, all with great professionalism and friendliness. She showed and explained things that we would have never known on our own... Even Charly, our little dog, had his own spaces and explored Matera with us without any difficulty. I truly recommend trying our same experience. At the end of the guided tour, we felt part of the city and greatly enriched by what Sara shared with us...
