What To Expect
Our Coast Guard licensed captains will take you out to Crab Island from the Destin Harbor. They will drop anchor at the epicenter of all the fun and stay with you the entire time, giving you full access to a restroom, shade, your cooler and our crew. We'll drop the ladder so you can easily jump into the waist-deep waters. SunVenture has assorted water toys available for guests. Paddleboards are available for rent on a first come, first serve basis. You'll find a little bit of everything at Crab Island from various floating food vendors to people kayaking, snorkeling, paddleboarding or just relaxing on a float. Additional Information - All guests must check in 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. - Personal, small coolers and bags are allowed but must be stored under your seat. Alcohol may be brought onboard, but no glass please! - Floats must be deflated when brought onboard. - Smoking is not allowed onboard. *Crab Island is BYOB. You CANNOT purchase alcohol from SunVenture or any other third party vendor there.*

3.00My family has been visiting Destin for years but we've never been to Crab Island. Since we were inexperienced, I wanted to book a captained tour instead of my own pontoon. Sunventure was a name I recognized and the price was good ($65pp). I booked for my family of 4 (2 adults, one 17 year old, and one 14 year old). The booking process was easy and communication was good but the information about the departure location was not clear. For all of the other excursions we have used in Destin, we have parked at the harbor walk. It took me some work to figure out the address for departure. The departure location for Sunventure is farther to the east and the parking lot has a Heron Bay sign, nothing that says Sunventure or Harbor. The lot is gravel. It was nice that the lot was separate from harborwalk because it was cheaper and less crowded, but confusing and hard to find. The boat we took had 45 passengers. The boat has bench seating around the perimeter and a couple of seats in the middle. The front of the boat was uncovered so those seats were pretty uncomfortable on the way out. Every seat was filled and we had to pack in. They offered us water bottles but the cooler was empty of ice and contained about 4 warm water bottles. The listing said no food or beverages so this wasn't really an issue. The trip to Crab Island was super fast and we were unloading in no time. This is where we encountered our main issue. The listing said floats and water toys were included. Because of this I didn't bring my own. The "floats" consisted of about 6 old pool noodles and a very small (2 person comfortably, 3 person absolute max) lilly pad. For 45 people, this was completely inadequate. Without floats and toys, crab island is boring. A few people on our boat brought uninflated floats and the crew inflated them. These people had fun. Those of us without floats just stood around awkwardly with nothing really to do for 4 hours. There wasn't really anywhere to lay out on the boat either, since the seating is mostly shaded and designed for transporting, not comfort. The other issue I had was with accessibility. The only way on and off the boat was a wide ladder. The top 3 rungs of the ladder were flattened and had ridges. The bottom 2 rungs were round and smooth. At some point the rungs had some kind of textured surface but it had worn away leaving the bottom 2 rungs dangerously slippery and very hard to stand on. With all the sunblock, the whole thing was very slick. The handholds were just curved smooth metal and were also slippery. My parents didn't come with us but there is no way that they would have made it on and off the boat with that ladder. They need to seriously consider re-covering the rungs of the ladder to make them grippy and they should really list that they are not suited for the elderly or anyone who can't climb a straight vertical ladder covered in sunblock. The crew was superb. They were friendly and fun. They were responsible and careful and even jumped in the water to help another boater who was creating a danger close to our party. They played great music and tried to keep it kid friendly. They did their best to accommodate everyone. My husband chatted with them on tips for how to do Crab Island on our own next time, and they gave him great pointers. The Sunventure cruise worked for what I wanted it to be, but it was an average experience. I needed a first-timer's guided trip, but without floats it was a pretty boring time. Unfortunately, it also discouraged my kids from wanting to go again. Next time we will for sure just rent a pontoon and have our own place to lay in the sun and plenty of floats and toys to keep us entertained. Would I do it again? 100% no. Would I recommend it to others? Yes IF you can make is easily up and down a pretty steep ladder and you BRING FLOATS!.

1.00Our ride was cancelled due to the boat motor going out. We showed up early to sign in and get ready only to find out everything was cancelled. Staff member states texts were sent out, but due to me booking with a third party company that that may be the reason I didn’t receive the notifications. That is very inconvenient as I planned this trip for my best friends bachelor trip. Luckily someone else was able to help us and we were able to get on a boat with a different company. I need my refund.

5.00Tyler and Kaden were great! We enjoyed the cruise out and our time at Crab Island. Perfect atmosphere for kiddos. The water isn't always a pretty color - it wasn't the aqua it normally is, but we still loved being out there!! If you prefer adult beverages, bring your own! They sell everything else out there! We had a super afternoon!

5.00This is a great way to spend time in Destin! We did the trip to Crab Island with Austen and Kaden and they got us there safely and quickly. They were great at answering questions and grabbing whatever we needed from the boat while we were in the water. Lots of families on the morning excursion which was fine by us. Highly recommend!
