So glad I booked this excursion—-we had a wonderful time. I was not able to attend this on my previous visit to Salzburg many years ago and now I see why the salt mines tour is so highly rated. Our guide Johannes knew everything about the history of the area and the salt mines. Inside the mines it’s a nice cool escape from the summer heat! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A great trip, would definitely recommend. The tour of the Salt mines was fascinating, with a train ride into the depths of mines and then two fun slide rides to go deeper down to explore the salt deposits, the extraction and the history too! Well balanced in content and timing in the mines themselves, but no time to visit the gift shop afterwards, as we had to be back at our coach to annoyingly go to collect passengers on The Eagle Nest excursion! Watch out also, it was advertised as about 4 hours long, but because we had to drop off the Eagle's nest passengers on route and collect them on the way back, so it was 5 hours (8:45-13:45), which left me with a stressful, 15 minute mad dash back to my hotel to collect my phone charger and grab a sandwich, instead of it being a relaxing hour and a quarter before my next tour!

It’s chilly in the mines but the coveralls help. Considered long sleeves. Getting there was nice in the minivan. Lots of information. Loved spending some time in Berchtesgaden afterwards.

Gary was our bus driver and Johannes was our tour guide and they were FANTABULOUS!!! I did the Skip-The-Line Salt-Mines and Bavarian Mountains Tour from Salzburg and it’s a MUST if you’re looking for a unique experience.

What a fun afternoon. Mirko (guide) and Alex( (bus driver) were the best. Still cannot figure out how Alex got through some of those tight turns and intersections. Extremely safe driver. Mirko was fun and entertaining as well as knowledgeable about the region. Kept us all together and safe. The salt mines were fun, and it kept us out of the rain. Highly recommended tour.

Transportation driver / guide was great. Experience at mine tour was unique and a bit quirky but memorable. Not sure I would do mine tour again. Stop in mountain town wasn’t long enough.

I remembered doing a salt mine tour with my family as a child and wanted to bring my children to this experience on our trip to Europe. The salt mine, itself, with the train and slides were exactly as fun as I remembered it! Our tour guide was good and pointed out some sights as we passed. Overall, there was not a lot of tour content before and after the salt mines, but he added some humorous commentary on the bus and gave us some interesting facts about the Alpine peaks we were seeing. We had a fun time.

The mines were very fun and informative, Berchtesgaden was some nice free time.
