Our guide Susie was more focused on what she and the company needed from us than the fun things we could do while in Hallstatt. The description doesn’t say that there really isn’t time to go do much at all (the mines or a boat tour), and it implied the sky platform might be open by now but it wasn’t. Our guide wasn’t a very good English speaker but lead the English tour. For the first part, she spoke in English and German and got very confused. It was difficult to get any information necessary except when to return to the bus and why we needed to do that for the bus company. Overall, way too expensive for what we got out of the tour. Hallstatt is beautiful and worth seeing - just via a different method

Richard was a great guide. Knowledgeable, fun, and friendly. Hallstatt was picture card perfect. Unbelievable. Pictures don't do it justice. They have to limit the number of busses due to its popularity. It lived up to its reputation as one of the most beautiful towns in the world. We had just over 2 hours in town was the right amount of time to shop, wander the streets, and get back to the bus. The bus ride from Salzburg was about 1.25 hours and was great as well as you looked at the beautiful scenery and little towns. Well worth it!

Well organised and takes the trouble out of trying to find your own way to Hallstatt from Salzburg. You spend enough time there to have a good wonder.. make sure you have cash for some of the restaurants although there is an ATM in the central square. Beautiful views

Scenic drive through the Austrian countryside - easy transport there and back. Bring cash, as most of the shops and cafés in Hallstatt are cash only.

Beautiful views next to lake but very busy (did not realise it was a bank holiday)! Nice bakery and cafe for snacks and should visit the churches. More seating along the lake side would be good.

My wife and I recently booked the half-day Panorama Tours trip to Hallstatt, expecting a professional and enjoyable excursion. Instead, we were subjected to a profoundly disorganized, unprofessional, and frankly discriminatory experience led by a guide named Jose. From start to finish, the service was unacceptable. Here is exactly what you can expect if you make the mistake of booking this tour: Discriminatory Boarding Process: The poor treatment began immediately at Mirabell Plaza. While we watched Caucasian customers being explicitly instructed to board the bus, my wife and I were dismissed and told to stand by a stall on the side with zero clear instructions. It was only through my own initiative in approaching the bus that I discovered we were actually supposed to be boarding along with everyone else. Blatant Racism on Board: During the drive, our guide, Jose, made a show of walking up and down the aisle to chat with passengers and ask where they were from. However, he actively avoided eye contact and conversation with anyone of Asian descent. At one point, he completely ignored an Asian gentleman sitting directly next to a Caucasian passenger whom he happily engaged with. As a tourist from Hong Kong, the targeted exclusion was incredibly obvious, deliberate, and highly offensive. Fake Information & Zero Support: When my wife and I explicitly asked Jose for restaurant recommendations in Hallstatt, he gave us the name of a restaurant that simply does not exist and briskly walked past us. Later, when my wife unfortunately lost her phone and we returned to the bus seeking his assistance as our guide, he was nowhere to be found. Misleading "Tour" Label: Be aware that this is essentially just an overpriced bus transfer. Jose provided absolutely no guiding within Hallstatt itself. He merely recited some history about Salzburg on the outbound journey and left us entirely to our own devices upon arrival. This experience was an absolute disgrace. No customer should pay to be ignored, misled, and subjected to discriminatory treatment. I strongly advise taking the public train or finding a reputable tour operator. Avoid Panorama Tours, and certainly avoid Jose.

Hallstatt is a stunning place and well worth a visit. Due to its remote location, travelling in air conditioned comfort with a professional driver and informative guide is a good idea.
