Galle Dutch Fort
Galle Dutch Fort is one of Sri Lanka’s most important historical landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site that reflects centuries of colonial influence. Originally built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and later expanded by the Dutch in the 17th century, the fort is surrounded by massive stone ramparts overlooking the Indian Ocean. Today, the fort is a vibrant cultural and historical area where visitors can explore narrow cobblestone streets, colonial-era buildings, museums, churches, boutique shops, cafés, and art galleries. Walking along the fort walls provides spectacular ocean views and a chance to experience the unique blend of European architecture and Sri Lankan culture. The atmosphere inside the fort is lively yet historic, making it one of the most visited attractions in southern Sri Lanka.
