Iglesia De San Francisco
The Franciscan friars began building the Church of St. Francis in 1245. It later had to be renovated after the fire that destroyed the old cloister and part of the church. Although the origin of this church was Romanesque, it was later transformed into the Gothic style and later acquired a Baroque decoration.
Sao Bento Railway Station
Although the origin of this church was Romanesque, it was later transformed into the Gothic style and later acquired a Baroque decoration. São Bento Train Station was built at the beginning of the 9th century on the remains of the old convent of São Bento de Ave Maria and still retains that melancholic and ancient air that characterizes the city of Porto. Although its façade is stately and eye-catching, the real jewel is inside: a hall decorated with over 20,000 tiles depicting the history of Portugal.

Filipe Silva picked us up from our hotel in Lisbon on Dec 25th 2019 early morning to drive 8 of us (4 adults & 4 kids) to Porto. We were lucky to find him on Christmas day. Although most of the attractions were closed, which we were well aware of, he made sure that we make maximum out of our trip. We stopped at Coimbra and spent about an hour to see the city. In Porto, we were able to see most of the city in a very short time. We were able to take lots of pictures and Filipe was very patient and well attentive to our needs. The drive to Porto is long but Filipe was very friendly and spent lots of time explaining things very well. It goes without saying that he spoke very good English as well. On the way back to Lisbon, as it was late and being Christmas day and most of the restaurants were either closed or completely booked, Filipe helped us to find a good place to eat dinner and even gave us gifts at the end - a good luck rooster. I realize I have not mentioned much about Porto itself and it is because as I have already mentioned most of the attractions were closed. However, I assure you that Porto is one of the most beautiful and historical cities that you will not want to miss. Oh yes, Porto is famous for their wine and we had the opportunity to go wine tasting but 7 out of 8 of us, do not drink wine. Hence, we skipped wine tasting, and instead decided to go see the sunset at the beach. It was well worth it. We highly recommend this tour and strongly recommend Filipe for any tour in Lisbon, Portugal.
