What To Expect
Blue Lagoon
Remember the Grindavik townsfolk who baked their bread in volcanic steam vents? Well in the 1970s, a group of scientists decided to take this idea to the next level! They began exploring the land north of Grindavik, hoping to use the area’s geothermal energy to provide heat for the town’s residents. Note: The tour is over 39.8 miles long, with more than 40 audio stories, and takes about 3-4 hours per tour to complete. New, Lifetime access, no expiry. Hafnir
We’re approaching the tiny village of Hafnir, which looks out over a small bay. Although only a few hundred people live here today, two of Iceland’s largest estates once dominated this area… and the owners didn’t always get along!

5.00The tour was spot on with locations. Worked flawlessly! Commentary was interesting, curent and insightful. The route was easy to navigate. Tour is very doable in just over three hours. However, I could easily spend up to 6 hours with several of the side trips. FYI: Only one restroom (WC) towards the last stop.

5.00We did this tour as final part of out trip through Iceland and we loved it!. Just like your other self guided tour of Iceland that we did, it was well organized and easy to follow. Learnt a lot about the unique geology and history of Iceland throughout the tours. We did the detour to Blue Lagoon and it was a unique and memorable experience. All the tour we did offered a great way to explore Iceland.

It was packed with interesting facts and stories as well as the flexibility it provided, we could just linger around, click some photos and just soak in the views. A super fun and informative way to experience the Reykjanes peninsula.
