Bighorn Sheep Canyon offers the perfect blend of adventure and scenery on a family-friendly section of the Arkansas River. This 6-hour tour includes a delicious riverside lunch and miles of whitewater action that will thrill kids and leave adults smiling as well! All trips include an experienced guide who will expertly navigate the rapids and tell stories of local history while pointing out local wildlife. The Bighorn full day trip is the closest all-day rafting near Colorado Springs and is crafted for families and first-time floaters.

Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
Dress appropriately for wet conditions. Swim suits, shorts or synthetic garments recommended. Always avoid cotton.
Secure footwear such as sport sandals are ideal. Flip flops, slip-on sandals and Crocs are not deemed appropriate footwear.
Wetsuit, splash jacket, and river shoes rental available on-site.
A liability release form must be completed for each traveler prior to rafting. Any guest under the age of 18 MUST have our release form signed by a parent or legal guardian and submitted prior to joining us for any trip.
Expect a phone from Echo Canyon after reserving. We will collect your email address and so we can send you a link to complete your online liability release forms.
What To Expect
Arkansas River
Full day raft trips typically find guests on the river for about 5 hours.
Echo Canyon River Expeditions
Check in at the Echo Canyon office, and we'll walk you through the process of preparing for your rafting trip. Echo provides personal flotation devices (life jackets), helmets, professional guides on each raft, and transportation to and from the river access points.

5.00Top notch stuff! Wilco One made for a great guide for a fabulous full day rafting. He really knows his stuff, looks after everyone and gives us some added extras about the local history too. He made sure the 3 younger ones got exactly what they wanted out of the day. Its a great blend of action and relaxation. Many thanks to Ben too, for helping a slim English man with his mistake! Top team!

5.00Echo Canyon River Expeditions is top-notch! This our first family whitewater experience (with a 13 and 15 year old) and we are hooked, we cannot wait to go back! The facility was super clean, well-organized and staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Avery was our guide and he was AWESOME! He communicated well, made safety a top priority and overall made it a great (and memorable) experience for all of us! We will definitely do this again and will definitely book with Echo Canyon River Expeditions.

5.00We had a great day on the river! We did the Bighorn Canyon Full Day Trip. Fellow okie Baker was an absolute blast and VERY skilled guide!!! I’m so glad he was the guide for our kids (8 & 11) first rafting adventure. They were a little nervous at first, but with Bakers phenomenal rafting skills and encouragement, they absolutely loved rafting and are excited to come back for more! We were in a group of 4 boats, and they all had exceptional guides. I do not think you can go wrong at Echo Canyon!! 5 star experience from beginning to end!! If you need a place to stay, check out the Echo Canyon Royal Gorge Cabins - absolutely Fantastic!!!

5.00Henry was amazing with our group. The whole day went very smoothly from check in through check out. We did the full fay Big Horn and lunch was great. This was not a hard day for the 20 miles we went in August. We had 2 adults and two high schoolers that enjoyed the water and views. Thank you Henry for making it such 'sick' experience.

5.00My son and I booked the Bighorn full day trip and Trinity Alcazar was our guide. The trip was super fun, owing in large part to Ms. Alcazar. I have gone on other whitewater rafting trips, sea kayaking, and other outdoor adventures and I must say that Ms. Alcazar is the best guide I have ever had. She is fun, personable, upbeat, affable, and in total command of her vessel. She quickly developed a rapport with everyone on board, but when it came to navigating rapids she snapped into captain mode on a dime. It was reassuring to have someone like that guiding us. We never capsized and she led us through every rapid

5.00We came into town for a bachelorette trip. Avery was our guide. He was calm and patient, (we were kind of a rowdy wimpy group of women), but firm when he needed to be. He sometimes had to tell us we needed to take things more seriously. Avery was great at telling us different landmarks, the history of the war of the railroad, and engaging us with questions about our trip and where we were visiting from.

5.00I was part of a bachelorette party and I was TERRIFIED of getting on those waters. Tyler was the BEST guide and quickly changed my whole mentality on that. Now I feel like it’s something I could do every weekend (with his encouragement for sure) Caroline was sweet and funny and Avery was patient with the other half of our annoying girl group. All of the guides were awesome! Definitely go here!!
