What To Expect
George S. Mickelson Trail
The Mickelson Trail extends from Edgemont, South Dakota to Deadwood, South Dakota and consists of 109 miles with 15 trail heads. The 20 mile portion that you ride is a moderate trail traveling through two tunnels and over a historic railroad bridge. Cruise through the beautiful Black Hills on your choice of mountain bike or comfort bike. Whether you are a bike enthusiast or the average traveler, this trail is easily manageable for the entire family. Includes lunch, all equipment, bottled water and light snacks.

5.00We absolutely loved our family's private bike tour on Mickelson Trail with Carrie and her team (Al and Scott)! Everything was timely and incredibly well-organized, allowing us to relax and enjoy the ride with our children. Carrie and her team were enjoyable to be with and engaging with our children. They were perceptive and accommodating of our needs along the way, and they packed a delicious lunch that everyone enjoyed. Carrie and team, thank you for such a wonderful experience!

5.00The Mickelson bike tour couldn't have been a better experience. The scenery is spectacular. The tour guides give out a lot of information about the area and the history, but most importantly, make it fun! And to top it off, the lunch was no ordinary bag lunch. Above and beyond expectations! A+

5.00The crew went above and beyond to have everything ready for our bike ride. As a family of 7, 5 kids ages 8-16…they had a lot of bikes to get ready and made sure everyone had one that fit them well. We were able to ride 20 miles on the trail because they chose the perfect section which was scenic and not too hard to travel. Jamie was our guide and he was fabulous. This was the finale of several days of touring and he became like family. He always made sure the kids were engaged and having a good time.

5.00Our experience was the start of the Best Vacation for our Family. Kevin was our Guide for two days 6/20 and 6/21 and he was FANTASTIC! We started off at Mount Rushmore for a private helicopter tour and then the Park. We were all so happy. All we could say was, WOW! After that we headed to Custer State Park and Crazy Horse. More, WOW! The second day we did the Private Mickelson Trail and that was equally fun and beautiful, Thank you so much Kevin! Hopefully we can return one day and will definitely be calling Black Hills Adventure Tours. Gary, Amy and Matthew Sullivan

From the initial phone call, filled with great tips and recommendations, to the bike ride itself, the team was great. The bike ride was beautiful and Carrie was so much fun to talk to. We highly recommend!

5.00Had a great day Biking a 20 mile section of the Mickelson Trail, an old rail bed which runs from Deadwood to Rapid City. It was full of interesting bridges and tunnels which this engineer found fascinating. It also had a lot of cool remnants of the Gold Mining era including mines, sod houses, rock carts and even the Rochford Ghost Town which has the not so world famous "Small of America." I even saw my very first beaver hut and dam. The tour company bent over backwards to make this an enjoyable experience. They honored the trip even though it ended up being just one on one with the tour guide. Had great conversations and they even through in extras such as a drive through Sturgis and lunch at the Alpine Restaurant. Only wish I had more cash with me to give them a bigger tip.

5.00The whole trip was my favorite part. O f course being with family and friends, having a wonderful planned trip by Black Hills Adventures every step of the way made the trip evenmore memorable! I am in my sixties and the 10 mile part of the trail was very easy for me. We coasted,pedaled, stopped, raspberry picked, took wonderful pictures, found treasures left by passing adventurers. I cannot say enough wonderful things. We stepped away from the crazy covid world into our beautiful Black Hills. We breathed in fresh air and had so much fun. All bikes, equipment,transportation to and fro were provided and fitted for us by The adventure tours. Also imformation about sights along the way. I would do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!
