Expierence was great but as a New Zealander booking on trip advisor it was not clear price was USD until after payment was made. Paid double what we though we were paying.

Hell’s Gate was absolutely incredible! My son and I had the best time exploring this amazing place. From the geothermal wonders to the mud baths, every part of the experience was unforgettable. We loved every minute of it and will definitely be back. If you’re ever in Rotorua, it’s a must-do. Thanks for an awesome day & amazing staff, we can’t wait to return! ❤️♨️🇳🇿

So much going on here, volcanology botany, Maori culture and history. The carving was an awesome interactive experience. Top it all off with a trip to the spa. The irony that it's called Hell's Gate I was in heaven.

Hell's Gate was one of the most unique experiences of our trip to New Zealand! The geothermal landscape is absolutely incredible, with bubbling mud pools, steaming cliffs, and vibrant geothermal features unlike anything we've seen before. The self-guided walk was easy to follow and provided plenty of opportunities to learn about the area's geothermal activity and its cultural significance. The views throughout the reserve were spectacular, and there were lots of great photo opportunities along the way. The highlight for us was the mud bath and sulphur spa experience. It was relaxing, fun, and left our skin feeling amazing afterward. The facilities were clean, well maintained, and the staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our visit. What makes Hell's Gate especially memorable is the combination of natural geothermal wonders and Māori history and culture. It felt like much more than just a sightseeing stop, it was an experience that gave us a deeper appreciation for the region. We would highly recommend Hell's Gate to anyone visiting Rotorua. It's a truly unique attraction that offers a perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and cultural connection. A must-visit while in the area

We just did the walk , didn’t fancy playing in the mud . I would suggest that if you only wanted to do the walk , make sure you do it with a guide, otherwise just do the free ones in the township of Rotorua. We really enjoyed our wood carving with the lovely young man who was helping us .

It was a good experience however we were told that someone would be available to take some photos of us and they were not so we got no photos of us in the mud baths

This is a must do!✔️ a big check off my to-do list. This place feels like your on another planet, amazing experience to see nature doing her thing and hearing the traditional history by the guides Very much enjoyed the mud pools. Note to self; take old swimwear that you won’t take home, the sulphur smell won’t wash. I ended up leaving brand new togs 🩱 behind rather than smell 👃 out my entire suit case. But done let that put you off Great day for us

The mud spa was a really novel and fun experience—something quite different! The staff were great and made everything easy, and the facilities were clean and well set up. A top tip: definitely hire towels and swimmers, as the smell is quite strong and tends to linger. Overall, a unique and enjoyable experience.
