The Sweet & Spicy Experience is a tour into the world of the two most famous food products in Calabria:
The red lady, Tropea’s red onion, and the Queen of Calabria, the Nduja from Spilinga.
Two real stars in the kitchen, loved by the greatest national and international chefs.
The Cipolla Rossa of Tropea, known for its sweetness, is a humble ingredient of the Calabrian peasant tradition with many curative properties.
The Nduja, a traditional spicy spreadable salami with an intense and unique taste, symbolizes an entire region.
During the sweet & spicy experiences, guests will visit an Onion farm and a Nduja factory, discovering all the farming steps, the production inputs, and the life cycle of plants and animals.
Learning how to pair and how to use them in the kitchen. Tasting a top selection of both products directly on the farms.

5.00We had a wonderful time visiting the onion farm and the Nduja plant. We learned all about how they harvest the seeds, plant and grow the onions, and why they are so different from other onions. At the Nduja plant we were able to go inside, with protective gear, and see them processing the meat, smoking the sausages, and packaging up everything for retail sales. It was very interesting to learn so much about the two specialties of Calabria. Enzo, our guide, is a gem and is very knowledgeable about the area.

5.00Such an interesting tour of the Tropean onion fields and tasting of unique products. This was followed by a visit to the Nduja factory! Delicious on bread and so many other ways. Enzo who owns the business, is extremely informative, helpful and kind. We learned so much.

5.00Our tour was led by Enzo who made this experience worthwhile before we reached the Tropea Onion fields and the Nduja factory. The Tropean onions are unique and we learned why. Ndjua is delicious. Great to learn how its made and how to use it.

Tastings and product offerings were very much appreciated and done in comfortable and professional settings. I would highly recommend if you are in the beautiful Calabria region

5.00This experience was more than we expected. Enzo and his associates made it special for us, from the beginning to the end of onion production, to the wonderful farm tour for 'nduja. I'd love to do it again.
