Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine
A place many anime fans specifically visit, it is considered one of the inspirations for the setting of “Hotarubi no Mori e.” Cedar forests, stone steps, and stone lanterns extend all the way, quiet and a little mysterious. Takachiho Gorge
Located at the northern edge of Miyazaki Prefecture, Takachiho is widely known as the setting of ancient Japanese mythology. At Amano-Iwato Shrine in Takachiho Town, there is a cave made of rock, which is said to be the dwelling place of the deity who hid away in anger in the “Amano-Iwato Legend,” during which the world was plunged into darkness. Manai Falls is the symbol of Takachiho Gorge, especially beautiful during the fresh green and autumn foliage seasons, when the waterfall harmonizes perfectly with the surrounding nature.
