In 1919, Germany was emerging from World War I as a defeated and humiliated nation with Munich in the grips of hyperinflation and Bavaria dominated by revolution and assassination. Out of this fertile soil of chaos rose the Nazi movement and one of history’s most powerful dictators, Adolf Hitler. Join us to explore the dark side of Munich’s history as the birth place of Nazism. Follow the growth of the movement from its first mass meeting at the Hofbräuhaus, to its failed attempt to seize power at the Feldherrnhalle. We take you to the site of mass party rallies at Königsplatz and stop in the Hofgarten to talk about The White Rose resistance movement. The tour covers all important facts and sites that played a role in the origin of this dark chapter, that ended with the beautiful city of Munich in ruins.

2.00I personally found the tour guide (Josh) very off putting. He was insistent that no one even have their phone in their hand, even closed and not being used, whenever he was talking. Even though my phone was completely closed and not at all open, he refused to continue the tour unless I put my phone literally in my pocket. I'm always concerned about pickpocketing and so prefer to have my phone gripped in my hand. His narration was also off putting to me as he often used very corny and cringy humor and took 10 minutes to explain what could be said in 5. Also, there was far too much lecturing and not enough movement or interaction. I literally left the tour early as I thought it was that poor quality. I would NOT recommend this tour with this guide.

5.00Our tour guide, Josh, has always done an amazing job providing an impactful tour through his storytelling and passion of history and remembrance. A delicate balance of dark history ans hope. We have done this tour twice now, and each time have learned something new from Josh. He truely loves to persistently teach and reflect!

5.00Josh was our guide, and his deep knowledge of history, and his engagement with the group was fabulous. Each of the spots we stopped at enabled much reflection and learning about the past and the present, I would recommend it strongly as a way to reconcile Munich's political history with Bavarian history, and to reflect on lessons for the present.
Fantastic tour, educating how the Nazi Party rose to prominence in a relatively short period of time.

5.00Our tour guide Josh delivered an insightful history of the rise of the Nazi Party, starting in Munich, before spreading through Germany, then taking us through into WW 2. The chronology of events were described clearly leaving us all wiser on a dark period of German, even world history.

5.00Not only did Josh teach us a lot about the Nazi movement and give us a lot to think about in our current turbulent times, he even managed to create an atmosphere where I couldn't help but start crying thinking about past victims und injustices. I will never forget this tour.

5.00Our Guide was Josh who did a super job of orienting us to the beginnings of the NAZI regieme. Great pics and explanatins of the process of going from beer halls to power in a short period of time with minimal assistance from the majority of German citizens....
