We'll pick you up and drive through the Alaska Native Tlingit village of Hoonah before merging onto old logging roads that will take us to a remote river where we'll fish for Salmon and/or Trout. The beautiful river is in the Tongass National Forest on Chichagof Island. During the car ride and along the river it is common to spot wildlife- the island has more brown bears per square mile than almost anywhere else on the planet. Depending on the time of year, we can watch salmon spawn and look for wild berries to eat. Upon arriving at the river, we'll put on our waders and walk a short distance to the first fishing hole where we'll fish for Salmon and/or Trout. We can stay at one spot for the duration of the trip, or we can walk along the river to fish in multiple spots. After fishing and looking for bears along the river, we'll drive the old logging roads back to Hoonah and drop you off at the port or your desired destination in Hoonah.

Absolutely fantastic experience! Natalie really knows her town of Hoonah and all of the honey holes. She was on time, professional and courteous and exceptionallyservice oriented. She did well with all ages traveling with us which arranged from seven years old to 75 years old. Not only did she immediately take us to a grizzly with Cubs, but all fishing individuals caught at least one fish, and there was plenty to afterwards. She provides much more than his advertised in the tour description. Truly, a once in a lifetime experience that deserves no hesitation to book.

Our family (adults ages 36-74, kids ages 3-14) had an amazing time stream fishing in Hoonah (Icy Strait) Alaska with Nat and Gavin! I was looking for a little more adventure and we were also considering some type of fishing excursion for this trip. We have done some deep sea fishing/ fished out of a boat/fished off docks for years, but fishing in a river with such beautiful views was just unique and fun! 10 outta 10 recommend! If you are a leary traveler worried about booking an excursion on your own, let your worries be soothed! Nat and Gavin are VERY professional and knowledgeable and will make sure you get the experience you are looking for while taking care of you. They both were patient with us in teaching us how to fly fish and helping the kids fish/release fish/ take photos! Here are a few things my family had to say about the fishing experience: Tempe (14)"The best part was crossing the waist high river!" Phoenix (11)"It was very fun! I want to go again! Fly fishing was hard but fun!" Maverick (9) "It was so beautiful and it was fun to fish there!" Joe (41) "It was a unique and enjoyable experience. It felt like everyone else on the cruise was doing generic/cookie cutter things and we were taking an adventurous trek through the wilderness to fish."

This was a great experience! Gavin our guide was excellent and explained how to fish to us as we’d never done it before! Waders are provided which was great. We drove through Hoonah and onwards and then walked about 20-30 minutes in pure nature to the river which was lush! I caught a trout which I was super proud of and Gavin was excellent at supporting me with the fish and getting a photo! The salmon snack provided in the car ride back is the stuff of my dreams! All such a great experience

Gavin was excellent as our guide - very patient and knowledgeable. As two people who had never fished before we didn’t know a thing! But he explained it to us in a non judgemental way! The spots for fishing were great and we were over looked by a bald eagle! There was a hike to get to the river - who knew there were swamps in Alaska! It was lovely to be with nature. I caught a trout which I was super happy about! Didn’t see any bears but hey you win some you lose some!

We had an absolutely incredible day fishing with our guide in Alaska. My dad is 77 years old, and this trip created memories we'll never forget. Thanks to our guide's knowledge, patience, and expertise, my dad landed two huge trout, which was the highlight of the trip for both of us. As if the fishing wasn't amazing enough, we also saw six or seven brown bears near our fishing spot. It was an unforgettable wildlife experience and felt like something out of a documentary. Our guide was professional, friendly, and clearly passionate about both fishing and Alaska's wilderness. Everything was well organized, safe, and enjoyable from start to finish. If you're looking for a world-class fishing adventure and an authentic Alaskan experience, I can't recommend this guide highly enough. Thank you for helping create such a special day for my dad and me! I want to bring my dad back for more fishing or even plan a girls trip with Nat, she’s so amazing and knowledgeable.

This was by far the best things we did in Alaska. We cruised from Vancouver to Seward with 6 total ports of call and this was the highlight by a long shot. Natalie was our guide and was extremely knowledgeable about the local area, the best fishing, and the wildlife around us. She catered the tour to the wants of the group and made sure we had an amazing day. We fished in and caught the end of the Pink Salmon run but the beginning of the Silver Salmon so were able to catch a variety of fish. Natalie found us the best holes and we caught so many fish we actually stopped taking pictures at one point! If your cruise stops in Icy Strait Point, this is the MUST DO activity.

We had such a great time on our fishing trip. Nat was very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced. I am extremely afraid of bears. Nat was so calm and reassuring that I forgot all about the wildlife. She had great facts and information to share about the area. I would recommend a guided trip with her. We also caught tons of fish!

One of the most adventurous fishing and sightseeing charters I've ever done! As a fisherman, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Natalie, who is local to the area, is extremely skilled, knowledgeable, and informative. Our family had one of the best experiences we've ever had on a trip like this. From the booking process to the end of the excursion, her communication was clear, professional, and friendly. I highly recommend NATVENTURE to anyone visiting Hoonah — you won’t be disappointed!

My husband and I recently went on a day fly fishing tour in Icy Strait as an excursion during our cruise. We selected NatVenture Tours Icy Strait for the following reasons. #1 woman owed, important for me as I am not an experienced fly fisher and wanted to feel comfortable. #2 local guide. #3 she herself was a guide and handled point to point. The day was absolutely incredible. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and exceeded expectations. Natalie was not only knowledgeable and professional but also genuinely passionate about fishing and the Alaskan wilderness. She tailored the trip to our skill level, gave great tips on casting and technique, and took us to some truly breathtaking spots and not another soul in sight. The fish were biting, too! Even if we hadn’t landed anything, the scenery alone was worth the trip. I finally was able to see a brown bear in the wild! All gear was provided and in top-notch condition, and Natalie made sure we were safe, comfortable, and having a blast the entire time. If you’re looking to experience the wild beauty of Alaska and enjoy some world-class fly fishing, this tour is an absolute must.

Couldn’t have been more happy that I selected Natalie to be my guide on my first Alaska fishing adventure. She was extremely knowledgeable and professional. You can see she has a passion for what she does and the environment she does it in. Our experience was second to none and would highly recommend Natalie if you were looking for a once in a lifetime experience.
