Superb experience at the heart of Sri Lankan cuisine. First, a visit to the garden with explanations about the fruits and vegetables. Secondly, a very informative and interesting introduction to cooking. Finally, a meal based on what we have cooked. We had the experience with our two babies, aged 2 and 3 years, and all the staff interacted with them during the 3 to 4 hours of activity, which allowed us to enjoy the experience as well. Thank you!

Our cooking class experience with Sriyani and guided tour around their garden by Sriyani’s husband, Karu, was absolutely amazing. I couldn’t fault our experience at all, beautiful kind people with a lot of knowledge and love to teach and share their cooking culture. We learnt a lot and everything was detailed and explained, what a bonus to eat the cooking at the end. Would recommend to anyone heading into Sigiriya!

It was the most enjoyable experience of my trip to Sri Lanka! There were 5 participants in 2 groups. They were first introduced to vegetables, fruits and spices in a home garden, then made 4 kinds of curry and coconut roti. We cut vegetables, shaved coconuts and stretched rotis. I think it is something that even beginners can enjoy. We made it in an outdoor kitchen surrounded by nature, using a furnace and fresh coconuts, and it was a rare experience in Japan! The curry we made ourselves was really good!! (It's a coconut-based dish, so maybe it doesn't suit the Japanese, but!) The explanation in English was also polite and I was able to participate with peace of mind. I tried to make it after returning home because I received the recipe, but it was still no match for the taste I had there 😅 If you are interested in Sri Lankan cuisine, I highly recommend you when you go to Sigiriya!!

Best thing I’ve done in Sri Lanka so far, begging with a beautiful walk around the gardens where they grow a lot of there vegetables and spices. The guide was very knowledgeable and had very good English. We then began cooking and it was so interesting learning all about there cooking culture and traditional dishes. The cooking teacher was very kind and knowledgeable. It was so much fun learning about the Sri Lankan food and luckily it was me and my girlfriend doing the class. She did mention the class sizes are always small to keep it intimate. Once we had all the food cooked we got to sit down and eat it. It was some of the best food I had ever tasted all natural organic food that we cooked on open flames. There was 5 different types of curry. Overall i couldn’t recommend this highly enough.

It was a very educational and especially tasty experience! We first got a tour of the huge garden with their own grown herbs, vegetables, fruits... Afterwards we were allowed to bring out our cooking skills together with the host. We got a detailed explanation about the different herbs. It was a very nice cooking class with a super sweet woman. She really took her time to explain and show everything. She can also speak English very well, which is a real plus. This cooking class is really recommended! 😊

We had such a great experience here! The workshop was really fun and interesting, with clear and engaging explanations. The tour through the garden was beautiful, and it was amazing to learn more about all the different herbs and spices. The food was absolutely delicious, and you can really taste the freshness and care that goes into everything. We also really appreciated the host — her English was excellent and very easy to understand. She explained everything in such a warm and engaging way and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We learned so much, not only about the ingredients but also about the culture and the way dishes are prepared. Highly recommended if you’re visiting Sri Lanka — this was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
