Early morning drive to Thangu Village (Alt 13625Ft / 4100M), a remote high altitude village of Tibetan Nomads and also proceed further to Chopta Valley (Alt 13325Ft / 4000M) to get some breath-taking view of alpine valley of frozen rivers. From Chopta Valley drive for another 30kms in 1.5hr to Gurudongmar Lake (Alt 17375Ft / 5225M) close to Tibet Border, one of the Highest and biggest freshwater lakes in Sikkim. Back to Lachen for Lunch. Gurudongmar Lake is one of the highest lakes in the world and in India, located at an altitude of 17,800 ft, in the Indian state of Sikkim. It is considered sacred by Buddhists, Sikhs and Hindus.
Thangu Valley
Thangu Valley or Thangu-Chopta Valley is a town and municipality located in Sikkim, India. The population is at an estimated 1,000 residents. LACHEN TO LACHUNG, 50 KMS IN 2.5HRS – Check out from Lachen and drive further to Lachung (Alt 8075Ft / 2425M) via Chungthang. En-route visit Chungthang Confluence and Vimnala Water Falls. Check-in at hotel. Free evening Overnight at Lachung.

Early morning drive to Yumthang Valley (Alt 11925Ft / 3575M), an Alpine flower valley in North Sikkim. Enjoy the scenic landscape and Hot spring and drive back to Lachung for Lunch. Free evening to roam around the village and river valley. Overnight at Lachung Optional Yumesamdong Valley (Alt 15750Ft / 4725M) for Indian tourists only– From Yumthang Valley you can drive for another 30kms in 1.5hr to Yumesamdong or Zero Point close to Tibet Border (At an extra cost), and back to Lachung. The Yumthang Valley or Sikkim Valley of Flowers sanctuary, is a nature sanctuary with river, hot springs, yaks and grazing pasture on rolling meadows surrounded by the Himalayan mountains in the North Sikkim district of Sikkim state in India.

5.00Lachen is a town in Mangan district a laid back and non descript hamlet from where is launched the most exciting excursion ,in the country ,to Kalapatthar where you find snow throughout the year and Chopta Valley which is flooded with flowers in the season the altitude of both the places is about 15000ft above MSL and then you visit the crowning glory of all The Gurudongmar lake situated at an altitude of 17800ft. Driving through the cold desert you may see wild ass wild yak, deer and owls , vultures and crow the dry cold wind blows at speeds of 30 to 40 kms per hour in the vicinity of the lake, a mystical lake which makes you dumbstruck when it unfolds itself in between snow clad mountains. Lachung is another town 60kms from Lachen almost similar to Lachen from here you go to Yumthang valley which is populated with a host of rhodendron flowers in the season ,March to May , it’s altitude is about 12000 ft and further to it is zeropoint where you find snow throughout the year it’s altitude is about 15000ft .Beyond this point civilians are not allowed. In nutshell it is one of the most pristine place to visit not only in the country but in the world too. The accommodations are reasonably good and roads are motorable but you need tough vehicles.
