We all know George Washington didn't chop down a cherry tree, so why do we keep telling that story?
Americans love myths about the Founding Fathers that make us feel proud. But behind the grand stories of brilliance and triumph, we find imperfect people who were only human—kind, cruel, funny, and very rarely chopping down trees.
Here's what makes this tour different: We talk about what's being quietly removed from National Park Service displays. The stories that complicate the narrative. The details that don't fit neatly into patriotic mythology. This is history before it gets sanitized.
This is an intentionally small group tour—capped at just a handful of people—because these conversations deserve more than a megaphone and a crowd. You'll have space to ask questions and grapple with who these men actually were versus who we've needed them to be.
Small group. Big conversations. The history they're editing out.

Lindsay was a great guide for our family’s first visit to Philadelphia. She was knowledgeable, entertaining, and we saw all the important historical spots in Old Philadelphia. We recommend her for families with elementary age kids. The information was accessible but definitely gave lots of context and critical thought.

Absolutely fabulous. Fayge was so knowledgeable, teaching us nuances of history that we did not learn in history class! Engaging, thoughtful, and connected so well to our modern life. Would highly recommend for anyone!

The tour was amazing. The stories Fayge shared gave us a sneak peak into the other side of the colonial era. It’s definitely a tour worth joining for both people who were and weren’t paying attention during history classes.

This is a terrific tour! Our very knowledgeable guide walked us through countless fascinating stories about our founding fathers and the origins of our country. It was a very entertaining experience, plus we learned so much. The city of Philadelphia and its history was threaded seamlessly throughout the tour with unique and fascinating insights into our early history and beyond.

Fayge is super knowledgeable about past and present history of Philly. She answered all of our questions - even the obscure ones. She goes beyond the "textbook stories" to share lesser known details and perspectives that make American history feel relevant today. Even our 17-year-old son was entertained and informed.
