The massacre occurred when British troops, under the command of Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer, opened fire on unarmed civilians who had gathered in the enclosed garden for a peaceful protest against British colonial rule. The brutal incident resulted in the death of hundreds of men, women, and children and left a deep scar on Indian history. Today, Jallianwala Bagh serves as a memorial to the victims of the massacre, with a preserved portion of the garden showcasing bullet marks on its walls. The best tour we had during our 10 day long trip to India, the driver - Rajit was courteous and very punctual. The guide - Jagroop - was amazing! Nice, knowledgeable, and very engaging! Cannot recommend the tour more highly.
