Join us on an unforgettable trip to Bondhus Valley and Bondhus Glacier Lake! Set at the foot of the Bondhusbreen Glacier in Folgefonna National Park, the hike to Bondhus Lake follows an easy historic route, suitable for everyone. The walk is 2.3 km each way, follows a wide gravel road the entire time, and has a gentle incline.
At the lake, you can enjoy a quiet moment by the waterâs edge, surrounded by rock formations and with the glacier in the background â a perfect setting for photos and relaxation.
The tour also includes a visit to the village of Rosendal and two ferry crossings on the Hardangerfjord.
A warm lunch made from organic, locally sourced ingredients is enjoyed before the walk, and a knowledgeable local guide accompanies you as you explore this distinctive national park landscape.

What To Expect
Within just ten minutes after leaving Bergen, weâre already out of the city and surrounded by beautiful scenery. A little later, the road follows the idyllic Osterfjord, with Osterøy â Northern Europeâs largest inland island â on the left-hand side. At the narrowest point of the fjord, youâll spot the elegant suspension bridge that connects Osterøy to the mainland.
After about an hour on the road, we arrive at the scenic BlĂĽbĂŚrsletta. This is the perfect spot to stretch your legs, take a bathroom break, andâmost importantlyâsoak in the views of the Fusafjord. We spend about 15 minutes here, enjoying a refreshing pause in natureâs embrace. From BlĂĽbĂŚrsletta, we drive through beautiful fjord and mountain scenery towards the Hardangerfjord. On narrow roads, we pass lush valleys and charming small villages, where you can catch a glimpse of local life. Keep your eyes open for the many waterfalls plunging down the mountainsidesâan impressive sight that truly shows the power of nature. As we get closer to the Hardangerfjord, the landscape gradually opens up, offering wide panoramic views across the fjord.

5.00We booked a different experience but was cancelled due to operational issues. They kindly upgraded us to the Bondhus Lake Hike Experience and it was absolutely amazing, breathtaking scenery and beautiful stops along the way. The hike was easy and catered for all abilities . Stopped in Rosendal for lunch and it was delicious. My son has food allergies and they were able to provide lunch for him. Our host Alexandra was super and was very knowledgeable about the history of Norway and had fun games on the bus journey đ Loved the experience and highly recommend

5.00The bus trip to Bondhus glacier lake was fabulous. Our driver was cheerful and helpful. Vibecca, our guide, was knowledgeable, fun and personable and spoke excellent English. Speaking without prompts, she gave us interesting cultural and geographical facts about Norway. The route was scenic the entire way, hugging the edge of rivers, lakes and fjords. When we passed through farmland, we learned about sheep, wool, the textile industry, and that Viking sails were made of wool. When we passed orchards, we learned that the Hardanger region is famous for fruit crops. There were anectdotal stories about the curvy, narrow roads, and rock slides, and stories about Norwegian royalty. "Vee" never failed to point out landmarks when we passed historical churches, barns or buildings. The lunch stop in Rosendal was very nice with authentic soup and delicious bread and large cinnamon rolls. We stopped regularly for bathroom breaks and to check out nearby waterfalls. The ferry crossings went smoothly and for most of the trip we could see mountains (some snow capped in June). But the hike up to the Bondhus Lake was the most amazing experience. Norway is beautiful!

5.00A fabulous day out in the spectacular Norwegian scenery. Everything was organised and ran smoothly. Our guide was a wealth of information on Norwayâs history, culture and nature. She was friendly and approachable. We loved the hike to the glacier lake which was achievable by everyone.

5.00What a fantastic tour operated by Travel North. Our original tour needed to be cancelled, however Travel North communicated early and offered this tour as a replacement. And wow, it really did not disappoint. From a prompt and clean bus, with exceptional driver and tour guide, to the actual itinerary, it was a fantastic day. Highlight was definitely the glacier lake. The walk in was easy on a gravel path, and plenty of time for photo stops along the way.

5.00I cannot recommend this tour more! My daughter and I had a lovely experience along the fiords and lakes. A perfect day trip from Bergen. Our guide and driver were so nice and fun to spend the day with! If you're staying in Bergen and have a day to explore this tour won't dissapoint!!
Easy Hike, Even with a Weak Knee

5.00I was hesitant to book a group trip, but I had a lovely experience. Everything was well-paced for the day, travel was comfortable and our guide, V, was great. The hike itself is self-paced so you can all go as fast or slow as you like. I have a bad knee and I managed the hike just fine. It's an easy path that goes at a slight incline on the way to the lake, but it's very manageable. The location was beautiful and I took tons of pictures. I would recommend bringing a small backpack to carry a water bottle. I wish I had brought a few snacks with me, but there are several occasions to buy snacks as well so don't worry if you forget to pack any.
