There is no other canyoning experience like this in Australia. Behana Gorge is the real thing: natural rock slides, cliff jumps, and abseiling down granite walls inside World Heritage rainforest, 30 minutes from Cairns CBD.
Your 5-hour adventure runs through cascading waterfalls and crystal-clear pools inside Wooroonooran National Park. Every jump, slide, and abseil is optional. Your guide reads the group from the start and adjusts accordingly. First-timers, families, and adrenaline seekers all leave satisfied.
Groups are capped at 10 per guide. Your guide knows your name, watches your confidence, and pushes you at the right moments.
All gear provided: wetsuit, thermal top, helmet, harness, and life vest. Routes are selected daily based on water levels. Behana is the only canyoning tour in Australia operating year-round. Suitable for ages 8 to 80.

What To Expect
Arrive at Bus Bay #7, Reef Fleet Terminal, 1 Spence St, Cairns Marlin Marina, at least 15 minutes before your scheduled departure. Staff will greet you, complete check-in, fit all gear, and run through the safety briefing before escorting you to the shuttle. Your air-conditioned shuttle departs Cairns CBD for the 30-minute drive south to Behana Gorge. Your guide introduces the gorge and the day's route selected based on current water levels and what to expect from each section of the course. Embark on the Behana Gorge Canyoning Course for approximately 3.5 - 4 hours. Step into the gorge and begin your adventure. Your route takes in natural rock slides, cliff jumps, abseiling down granite walls, river rapids, and crystal-clear swimming holes. Every challenge is optional, your guide reads the group's comfort level and adjusts throughout. All gear is provided and every activity is demonstrated and supervised before you attempt it. After approximately 5 hours on site, your shuttle returns you to Reef Fleet Terminal, the original departure point.

5.00I had a great day out in Behana Gorge with Baz and Dom! Both are fun and easy going, they really seem to love what they are doing. We learnt some little bit of history regarding the Cane Toads, which was interesting. It was a little bit confusing about the pick up, as I was told by the office to go to Maccas in Gordonvale but then got a call (which I couldn't take as I was driving) from Baz to go to the servo across the road, I was there in time anyway so all good. The gorge itself is beautiful, the weather was perfect and I had so much fun, jumped from (to me at least) high cliffs that I never thought I would. To top it off, we got lucky and even saw a snake next to the road which was pretty cool. Hopefully I can come again in the near future!

5.00This was the best canyoning experience I’ve ever done (and I have done others)! Bazz, our guide was very funny, very careful, patient and led an outrageous adventure through the canyon. This is a “must do” activity when you are in Cairns!

5.00We had such a great day with Bazz and Paulina, I was the oldest in the group, but I loved it. As did my niece who is visiting from the UK. You do need an ability to swim and a reasonable level of fitness to really get the most out of the experience. The location you go to is stunning, jumping off rocks in to the river, stunning waterfalls, abseiling and floating through white water rapids. Highly recommend this activity.

5.00Amazing experience!! Didn’t quite know what we had signed up for and this completely pushed us out of our comfort zone! Marcio and Sasha were fantastic guides and made us feel completely safe whilst giving encouragement but always highlighting that everything was optional, so felt no pressure. Had a great group who really helped each other out and cheered each other on. Was originally booked on behana gorge but that was flooded so were moved to crystal cascades. Thank you Marcio and Sasha, this was the highlight of our trip to Cairns!

5.00Loooved this trip! Guides (Baz & Marseo) were fantastic, always keeping us safe whithout compromise on the fun factor! We took the challenge with our 8 year old daughter and she loved it as much as we did! Anybody who loves a „safe“ thrill is in good hands here!!
