I booked the Cape Winery Cycle Tour with Takaro Trails Cycle through TripAdvisor, then booked a separated day directly with the company. Fabulous service! The company picked me up for the cycle at the gates of my hotel, The Magnapapa, for the Cape Winery Cycle (self) Tour. Within no time at all we were dropped, armed with maps. Information and bicycles to begin our day. The only restriction we had was to meet at a certain time (I think it was 4 pm). Gorgeous and easy cycle with plenty of opportunities to stop at the beautiful wineries along the route. Pay attention to the driver when he gives you specifics regarding which route to take at the bridge. I even had time to cycle for a prearranged, fabulous lunch at beautiful Craggy Range (over the steep hill) before finishing up the tour. At the end of the delightful day, the driver dropped me back off at the Magnapapa with the bike and charger, which I rented for another day. They were to pick it up again at the end of my scheduled rental, but I rode it into Napier and dropped it off there instead. Great company to work with! Recommend!

We were picked up and dropped off right outside our hotel which was really convenient. The mini bus and trailer of bikes took us to the start point where we had a quick briefing and then set off on our bikes clutching our map. Water, helmets and locks were provided. Even though we are “mature” and unfamiliar with electric bikes everything went well. The routes were beautiful , inland and coastal and the paths were safe and easy to navigate. We enjoyed calling in at the vineyards and paced ourselves so we didn’t get too “squiffy”. Beautiful weather helped make this a very memorable trip. Our bus driver was really helpful in driving back and returning the bag I accidentally left on the bus ( there’s always one isn’t there?) which I really appreciated.Thank you.

Picked up at our campsite and driven to start point. Our tour manager Roger was excellent, gave clear instructions on the e-bike, the self guided tour, the best places and vineyards to stop at en route. Easy to follow map. Fantastic day.

Nice way to discover the different winemakers at your own pace. Your bike with a mountain bike, electric, along some beautiful wine regions. Tastings on your own and you can even eat with it. Fun day around Cape Kidnappers, driver Zeke is helpful and makes sure you go well on the road.

Highly recommend: Gorgeous route, clearly marked signs, protected path (away from cars) the entire route, and good communication from the company. We booked the E-bikes and it made this a breeze for multiple fitness levels! If you’re not fit, it’s okay, you can still do & *enjoy* it with their pedal assist e-bikes. NOTE: 1) the wineries listed on the viator itinerary are outdated. (See below) 2) you need to book some of them in advance. Not all are open 7 days a week. They will text you the night before w which are open, but you can find this on google to book in advance to get preferred times. 3) go to Craggy Range, especially if on e-bike. The view/ scenery is STUNNING and the elevation change to/from is minimal and very doable on e-bike. Cape Winery Cycle, their suggested route/locations in order, as of April 2025: Clearview Estate - Elephant Hill- Askerne - Craggy Range - Te Mata Estate - Black Barn
