Our excursion started at 5:10am with a pick up at our resort. The driver didn’t speak any English despite us booking an English tour. After about 1.25 hours we were dropped off near Cancun at a gas station and had to wait for another bus to pick us up 15 minutes later. From there it was approximately 2.5 hours to Chichen Itza at 8am local time. I understood it to be an 2 hour drive but it was actually 4 hours. After 30 minutes we got started. We were told we would have a 60 minute guided tour and 30 minutes of free time. Again, I understood this to be 2-2.5 hours but didn’t realize that included the (extended) entry to the park. I don’t think I need to get into the trip back to our resort but there is one thing I do want to mention. After arriving back at the gas station and transferring buses again, additional people were added and our 1.25 hr trip (from Cancun to playa del Carmen) ended up being closer to 2 hours. Overall, a 14 hour day which was spent mostly in transit. At Chichen Itza, our tour guides Jaum and Juan were amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable. But I understood our excursion to be English. It turned out to be bi-lingual. I think it would have been much better as strictly English unless necessary. We were extremely excited to visit Chichen Itza and learn about the site and the culture but extremely disappointed to have it so short of a visit. Would not recommend this tour if you want to be immersed in Chichen Itza fully.

I don’t know how Manuel [Tequila] get high reviews. He was incredibly RUDE. The day of our tour it rained 85% of the time. When I was trying to get his attention to ask if i could go back to the entrance to get an umbrella, he did not want to stop and allow me to ask a question, when I voiced my concern, as he walked away he yelled “me estoy mojando”. REALLY! So was I, except for I was getting wet the whole day. He couldn’t even answer a quick question for me. The lady, he partner, I think her name was Louisa was great.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our family had an outstanding experience on the Chichen Itza, Chichikan Cenote, and Valladolid tour. We chose the early tour that departed at 5:00 a.m., and it was absolutely worth it. Arriving early allowed us to enjoy Chichen Itza before the largest crowds and the hottest part of the day. A special thank you to our driver, Manuel, who kept us safe and comfortable throughout the journey. He was professional, courteous, and made the transportation portion of the trip seamless. We would also like to recognize our tour guides, Frank and Omar, who were exceptional. Their knowledge of Mayan history, culture, and the significance of Chichen Itza brought the entire experience to life. They were engaging, informative, and entertaining, making the tour enjoyable for both adults and children. Chichen Itza was spectacular and exceeded our expectations. The Chichikan Cenote was another highlight—beautiful, refreshing, and a unique experience that we will never forget. We also enjoyed our stop in Valladolid, which offered a wonderful glimpse into the local culture and charm of the Yucatán. The only minor inconvenience was the pickup process at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya. The hotel does not allow tour operators to enter the property for lobby pickups, so guests must walk all the way to the security checkpoint outside the resort, which can be a considerable distance. This is not the fault of the tour company, but future guests staying at the resort should be aware and plan accordingly. Traveling with a group of 13 people can be challenging, but thanks to Manuel, Frank, and Omar, everything went smoothly. Their professionalism, friendliness, and passion for what they do made this one of the highlights of our vacation in Mexico. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Yucatán Peninsula. It was the perfect combination of history, culture, adventure, and relaxation.

Like others have mentioned, the tour is pretty informative about Chichén Itzá, and the cenote is really cool to see. But what really soured my experience was the tequila scam at the cenote. The tequila “company,” Tequilera Reyes, runs a bait-and-switch scam with their tequila, selling you low-quality tequila that they hide under the guise of wrapping it for you while you explore the cenote. If you google the company, you can see they’ve been running this scam for a long time under different brand names. The seller told us at the cenote that the liqueurs were 14% tequila. When I unwrapped the bottle I bought, I found that the liqueur I bought didn’t even contain any tequila - it contains an alcohol made from sugar cane, not agave. The fact that the guides seemingly set us up to be scammed and are defending the “authenticity” of the products in these reviews is disappointing. I’d take your money elsewhere.

Ricardo and Alfredo what a team 😍Alfredo such a calm driver , friendy always ready to help me to get out of the coach ( my dodgy knees ) Ricardo , cheerful , extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic and a great sense of humour . Chichén Itzá was incredible, so much to see and Ricardo knew so much detailed information. I would have loved to spend more time listening to him but it was so hot and when the wind picked up - dusty . Definitely an awe inspiring place to visit and I am going to research more when I get home . There was also an opportunity to get an indiviualised Mayan long count . A great souvenir and supportive of the local community. The cenote Chichikan was interesting and very poular . I don’t swim so we enjoyed a walk around the grounds loooked down into the Cenote and looked at replicas of Mayan huts . etc . Valladolid was interesting , we had a short walk around and visited the church . We were all very tired by this stage and ready to get back . I would just like to mention how calmly and professionally Alfredo and Ricardo handled the unfortunate incident when a motorcycle ran into the drivers door - leaving handle bar indents . No one was hurt , and after an obvious delay for insurance reasons, we got back on our way . Ricardo thanked us for being patient and calm , but the way that these two handled the situation was key .
