I highly recommend this day trip. Yes it’s an early start but worth it to fit more in and see the sun rise over the mountain peaks. The breakfast was simple nice fresh bread rolls with butter and jam and hot beverage options to fuel up at a hostel stop. The sights are what you came for. I can’t pick a favourite, they’re all magnificent viewpoints. The first time I felt alt illness was very brief when walking up stairs. As quickly as it came it went. It was nice to stop at the little towns and see a different way of life. We had a nice buffet lunch at the restaurant in the town centre. Clean bathrooms (important), delicious food options to cater for all and excellent service staff. We had lovely Rosaria and the driver (I apologise I can’t recall his name) were both wonderful in making sure we had a good time, were safe and informed about the places we went to. I leave with fond memories of my trip to Colca Canyon.

This is a must-do experience if you are visiting Arequipa. Any one part of this experience would make it worthwhile....the views, the safari-like interactions with wild vicuna, the hot springs--but seeing condors up close and personal in the wild blew me away.

The Colca Canyon is impressive and beautiful! Our guide, Marisol, was very nice, knowledgeable and professional. Although we did not get to observe any condors, enjoying the views, the little town people’s traditions and cultures was worth the trip! Hot spring waters were awesome!!!!
