Seth and Bertha Holly (Cedric and Henson) keep a warm, orderly home for those navigating uncertain paths. But when a mysterious man named Herald Loomis arrives with his young daughter, the stillness of the house begins to shift. As his past slowly unravels, long-buried truths come to light—and everyone within the house is called to reckon with the meaning of freedom, identity, and belonging.
This timeless American classic is set in a Pittsburgh boardinghouse in 1911, during a pivotal era of migration and transformation. As people move in search of opportunity and renewal, they carry with them untold stories—of loss, resilience, and hope.
