I am not easily impressed. But this definitely belonged to the highlights of my three-week trip to Sri Lanka. The most important thing first: The food was great - perhaps the best I had in the three weeks. And I have almost always eaten very well. Very friendly, professional, clean, and well-organized, while also being extremely entertaining and educational. First, there was a warm, hearty soup. Then we went to Galle to the market: first to buy vegetables, later fresh fish at the harbor. All questions were answered kindly. A true experience. Afterward, back to Unawatuna to the family restaurant. The course was led by Wasantha's daughter, with support from her brother - clear, entertaining, and in very understandable English.

Great cooking class run by lovely family. I really enjoyed the Galle market visit - particularly the vegetable market which was so colourful and full of new (to me) fruit and veg. We also bought tuna from the Galle fish market direct from the fishermen. I leant a lot from Wasantha when we cooked the 5 curries (4 veg and tuna). It was a small group of 6 and it was nice to eat lunch together at the end. Highly recommend.

We had a great time cooking with Sasa. Our experience started off with a visit to the fish, fruit & vegetable markets in Galle with Sam. We were able to choose the vegetables to include in the curries. We then returned to the kitchen to help prepare several curries and Sasa explained all about the cooking processes and spices. We cooked: beetroot curry, tuna steak curry, cucumber curry, pumpkin curry and eggplant moju as well as rice and poppadoms. After preparing the dishes we enjoyed eating them for lunch alongside the others in the class. It was a fabulous experience which we would definitely recommend.

A brilliant start to our trip. Sam took us to the fish market to buy our tuna, then on to the fruit and vegetable market in Galle. His knowledge and stories were great. Then back to cook 5 amazing curry dishes with his daughter. A great teacher and brilliant cook. Lots of recipes to take home and a delicious meal. I would highly recommend this experience.

First an excellent market visit with Sam who explained everything and shared interesting stories. Then his daughter, Sas and family shared their detailed knowledge of how to make 5 curries. And then I ate! It was fantastic. They were very generous.

We had a wonderful time at this experience. Sam and his daughter were amazing guides. They took so much care in explaining all the different ingredients and processes. It was very hygienic and everyone handling food took the utmost care in ensuring everything was clean. And the food was delicious! Would highly recommend this experience.

We had an amazing 4 hours. First went with Sam ( Wasantha’s husband ) to the market to choose fish and vegetables where he explained what all the weird and wonderful vegetables were. Then came back and Wasantha told us about all the spices that we were going to cook with and the traditional methods used. We then proceeded to help cook everything and then had what we cooked for lunch . YUMM. A must do experience while. Thanks Wasantha and Sam
