Discover Lapland the Finnish way on a small-group cross-country skiing adventure through peaceful winter landscapes. Cross-country skiing is one of Finland’s most beloved winter sports and an important part of local culture — a traditional way to move through snowy forests and enjoy the outdoors during the long Arctic winter.
Whether you are trying skiing for the first time or already have experience, our guides will teach you the basics and help you feel comfortable on your skis. After being fully equipped with winter clothing and skis, we head to a scenic trail just outside the city, where your adventure begins.
Gliding through snow-covered forests and, conditions permitting, across frozen lakes, you will experience the calm beauty of the Arctic in a truly authentic way. Surrounded by silence, fresh winter air, and stunning snowy scenery, this approximately 3-hour journey offers a memorable glimpse into Finnish winter life. Hot drinks are included to keep you warm along the way.

What To Expect
Rovaniemi
Learn to ski cross-country skiing and admire beautiful landscapes with a local guide. Spend a nice day or half exploring the nature! This trip is suitable for beginners as the guide will make a skiing lesson first. You will learn traditional cross-country skiing and you will have a chance to try skate skiing if you like. This trip is a great opportunity to take nature pictures and with some luck you may also see footprints of wild animals or even animals themselves. You may try sliding on even surface as well as downslopes. Warm beverages and snacks are offered during this trip. Great fun for all! Two starts a day: At 10 AM and 2 PM for half-day trip. Full Day Trip is 5,5 hours, starts at 10AM. Snacks and warm beverages are offered during this tour. All day trip includes lunch, too.

5.00We spent an unforgettable day with Lapland Welcome. In the morning we group of seven (aged 8 to 58) took the snowmobile tour and an hour later four of us took the cross-country skiing tour, accompanied by the fantastic guide Mattia. Mattia took us to a fairytale landscape, among snowy trees and immaculate snow, meeting only a couple of local cross-country skiers. At one point we left the marked path to follow a path he knew, to a frozen lake. Although we were all beginners, Mattia with kindness and patience explained the rudiments, followed us constantly and encouraged us to enjoy the peace and nature of this wonderful place. He also took some beautiful photos, which we received in the following days. We were really happy to be accompanied by Mattia: professional, prepared and always attentive to everyone. We absolutely recommend Lapland Welcome for an authentic and well-organized experience in Lapland!

5.00My first cross country skiing with Lapland Welcome was phenomenal. As a beginners, my husband and I had the most patient instructor who tied up even our shoes for us. Once on the trail Gustaw taught us the ABC’s of cross-country skiing and the adventure began. After a couple of falling (just another part of the fun) we had a break for some hot beverage and Finnish cookies. We ended up skiing on a frozen lake. I always felt safe and confident with our instructor. I’m delighted we picked this activity in Rovaniemi, now is already included as my favorite in the snow.

5.00Great beginner and refresher cross country skiing experience,with a brilliant,patient lady instructor. Very helpful staff,any equipment needed is provided.Good meeting place,easy to find. Transfer by minibus provided to local forest ski picturesque location. Family friendly,we were with a family group with children.Hot drinks and snacks provided. Excellent fun and good exercise.A great activity.

5.00Fabulous half day trip! All of us were first timers - our guide explained everything clearly, had a smile on his face the whole time and continuously checked on everyone - each going at our own pace. I’ve only been skiing twice and didn’t actually like it. I booked this as my partner wanted to try cross country and I’m so glad I did. The track has grooves in it which your skis slot into, making it so much easier than downhill skiiing. I can’t recall our guide’s name but he was originally from Chile and was super patient with all our group. We had a great time and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.
