La Citta Alta
Bergamo is a town of two parts: Bergamo Alta (“the high town”) and Bergamo Bassa (“the low town”), connected by the historic cable car. In the heart of Bergamo Alta, we’ve selected dishes that capture the region’s food culture: from traditional farmers’ meals to richly prepared meats, and even gelato stracciatella, which was first created here. Guided by our local Foodie, you’ll follow a secret itinerary within the Città Alta walls, exploring bold flavors and delicate scents, from the origins of Lombard cuisine to the contemporary Bergamo food scene.
Palazzo Moroni
Let’s begin the tour with a classic aperitivo, featuring toasted bread slices topped with a variety of local garnishments. Each bite is perfectly paired with a glass of Valcalepio red wine, allowing you to savor the rich flavors of the region and set the tone for the culinary journey ahead.
Special Drink Card: You can have at least 3 alcoholic drinks. You can choose wine, beer or other drinks (ages 18+).

Federico is a very likable guide who competently explained Bergamo's specialties to us. We spent a very entertaining and pleasant evening with him.

If it was possible to rate this activity with even more stars, I definitely would! An unforgettable activity to get to know the old town of Bergamo. This culinary tour was a mix of cultural and historical insights where traditional and regional foods took the lead. It was our guide Yuliya in particular who made all of this possible for our group as she was clearly truly passionate to narrate so interestingly about Bergamo (Città Alte), its surroundings, the people, the community, the traditions and the food. We visited true hidden gems (cafes and restaurants), that I otherwise wouldve never visited, with each an amazing backstory that I never couldve guessed! The food and drinks of course were the star of the show! What we got to taste was of a great variety, of perfect portions and simply delicious! I can only say that you HAVE to try this tour for yourselve, because you truly don’t want to miss this!

Come hungry. The tour was like a progressive dinner. Appetizers, main course, dessert all at different locations. Love. The history of Bergamo as well as the food

We arrived in Bergamo prior to the tour and visited some of the sites before we met up with Yuliya around 11:30a.m. Yuliya provided some additional background of the various architectural sites such as Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore and the Campanone bell tower. We were initially disappointed that we were the only two people on the tour. However, Yuliya had a great personality and was so full of knowledge about Bergamo that we immediately started to enjoy our time together. One thing that stood out for us is that Yuliya had a good relationship with all of the establishments, and we were treated with excellent service at each location. The menu items were delicious. We especially enjoyed the Casoncelli, but the polenta not so much despite it being a centuries-old dish. Of course, the stracciatella at the original ice cream shop was a great way to end our 3+ hour tour. Yuliya suggested that with our remaining time in Bergamo , we should visit the Campanone bell tower. We did so and were met with stunning views of Bergamo and beyond. This tour should be promoted more as it was a tour worth taking. Thank you Yuliya, and we wish you all the best. Cathy & Tim

7 friends on tour. Flinke, knowledgeable Daniella our guide. Very exciting story. The food disappointed a bit, hoping for a little more and better food experience at that price. Was included 1 gl. wine and a little gl. beer. Still a nice experience😊

You could be in a group where your guide needs to repeat everything in multiple languages. Ours did a great job dispensing information with kindness and good humor.

This is our first gastronomy tour that we have taken .. and its FUN !! Highly recommend this gastronomic tour with a guide with Local knowledge of the place. So aside from the gastronomic experience, our guide took time to explain the history of the Old UPPER City of Bergamo as well. We truly appreciate her in depth knowledge of the place and her passion for zero kilometres food source.

Outstanding!! Our guide Barbara was a delight. When I booked this tour, I thought it was a little pricey, but now I know why. Over three hours of food and history. Well worth every penny. When they say hearty lunch, they mean it and we were sad that we could not finish some of our dishes, because they were so yummy!! We learned so much on this tour, both about the local food and traditions, but also much about the regional history. I take a food tour everywhere I travel, and I have to say this was one of the best I have ever been on. I will be dreaming of my Casoncelli alla Bergamasca, the local pasta dish they are famous for. We have nothing like it in the US. Thank you Barbara and Mario for a fabulous afternoon!!!!!!
