What To Expect
Skofja Loka
10:00 am– Pick-up location: We will pick you up at the train station in Skofja Loka and take you to our starting point of the tour. 11.00 am – Route start: The first part will consist of an easy ride down the old military road through lovely villages all the way up to the highest point of the tour, the hut under Blegoš.
Mount Blegos
1.00 pm - Here we take a longer rest, to take in all the beautiful mountain views and fresh air. If there is will and energy, we can walk to the top of Mount Blegos (cca 20min hike) and enjoy the marvellous view of the hills of Skofja Loka, the Julian and the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, and the Karavanks. If the weather is kind enough, we might even catch a glimpse of the Adriatic Sea.

5.00We just went on a self guided tour with Jernej from Greenhills Bike tours. Jernej arranged the route, with several discussions about places/areas we wanted to include/he suggested we include. This route was sent to us on GPS app. Worked brilliantly. We made a couple of changes once on the tour and again, Jernej kept in touch and happily accommodated our changes. This is a small business, passionate about cycling and ensuring you have the best time. He is the nicest of persons. We carried our luggage in panniers and when he met us at the airport and transported us to the beginning, he took time to show us how everything worked, got us set up with the bikes and all the equipment. All in all an amazing trip and Slovenia is just the most beautiful country with lovely people. Thankyou Jernej.

5.00Kudos to both of us guides Ursa and Jerrey! Warm warm people who gave us beautiful bike rides! We got to see a lot of variety of beautiful landscapes and both the hotels and chosen restaurants were very good! 5.00We had a great experience on a three day guided e mountain biking tour in May. The bikes were brand new and excellent. It turned out we were the only people on the tour (a couple on our early 70’s) so we really had a personal, individualized experience. We enjoyed learning about life in Slovenia from conversations with our guides and company co-owners, Jernej and Ursa. Having lunch at an open farm and at mountain huts was a fun way to experience local food and culture! The routes were wonderful with very little car traffic and incredible scenery. We did 40-50 km per day with 1000 m elevations made easy with the e bikes. Beautiful gradual descents on paved roads were a treat! Felt totally safe and taken care of at all times. Accommodation at Hotel Zamorc was exceptional (great breakfasts by Tatiana!) and we loved Škofja Loca, a quiet 1000 year old town with good restaurants that were not expensive. Greenhills can design a tour for your group… we wished we had added in a hike! Highly recommend this company. Communication was clear and responsive.

5.00The bike tour of the hills above Škofja Loka was delightful. Greenhills carefully planned the route. The bike, an e-mountain bike, matched the roads, which were a mix of gravel roads, dirt roads and paved roads. The views were spectacular. I can’t say enough good things about my guide Urša, who managed the tour solo. She also runs the family business of Greenhills along with her husband. (I opted for the private tour so I could set the pace and this worked out very well). They live nearby and they really know the area. We biked about 43km in around three hours. It was especially nice that, on a weekday morning in mid-May, very few bikes and very few cars were on the roads and trails. On comparable tours I’ve taken in picturesque spots in Italy, France and Spain, that was definitely not the case. The value for money was very good, especially for the private tour. It was not hard to find the train station in Ljubljana for the short and inexpensive journey to Škofja Loka. Urša kept up a pleasant stream of conversation for the duration of the ride. She provided a water bottle and helmet . She picked me up at the train station and took me to a local supermarket where I picked up a tasty lunch before the ride. She then brought me back to the station when the tour was done. If I wanted to go biking in Slovenia again, I would do this tour, or another one, with Greenhills in a heartbeat. It could not have been better.
