Aokigahara forest, as known as Jukai (Sea of trees) is located on the north side of Mt. Fuji and attracts many people. Enjoy this 3-hour adventure to a cave where you can only go with a special permission with an English speaking guide. No handrails and no light, unspoiled secret cave. An adventure tour that can not be compared with others, heading with one headlight. Small-Group Tour is limited to a maximum of 12 travelers.

What To Expect
There was a large eruption at the base of Fuji mountain 1200 years ago and a large amount of lava flew creating many caves out of the solid lava flow. After that, Mt Fuji's melted snow came into the frozen caves and formed beautiful ice art. This is an adventure tour where you can explore a rare cave which is so unique that you cannot find anywhere else. Have to walk with only a single headlight and you will enter the world of 0°C in the caves that is made by the great Mt Fuji. With full of thrill, using your five senses. Your guide with full knowledge of the area will assist you to enjoy the area fully. With this tour, walk through a mysterious and beautiful forest - the Sea of Trees/Aokibara Forest with a highly experienced English guide. During the tour, experience full of adventure and excitement that will stimulate all senses, have chance to view the natural ice art that created Mt. Fuji through its history. The tour is operated in a small group, normally individual guests require to obtain a special entry permit; however we are the only group tour that includes this in the tour. The tour also include entry to the "Real Cave" where is secluded and hasn't became a tourist attraction, and also experience the world of 0 degree Celsius natural caves created by Mt. Fuji. Schedule 1. Meet at meeting point. 2. Tour preparation (helmet, headlight, overall, gloves, clothes to change ,toilet and calm down your feelings) 3. Move to departure site of the tour 4. Walking in Aokigahara Forest (40 minutes), exploring the lava cave (60 minutes) and walking in Aokigahara Forest (40 minutes) 5. Move to the meeting point 6. Review and breaking up 7. Go home safely Depending on tour progress, there is time fluctuation.

5.00I had a good time with Toshi-san! Very knowledgeable about the flora and the fauna of the forest. The descend to the cave is slightly dangerous, but not difficult. Toshi-san makes sure of my safety. The ice formations are cool! Definitely a nice, quick little sidetrip when in Kawaguchiko.
Tada is a gem on this tour, full of local knowledge and fun facts 😊

5.00I booked this tour to get away from the crowds and I was not left disappointed. Absolutely had an amazing time exploring this beautiful forest and learning it's rich history. The ice caves are spectacular and would highly recommend anyone looking for an immersive experience while wanting to learn the local history to book this tour. 10/10 based on the humour and the interesting facts I learnt on this tour alone 😊

5.00Experience was wonderful with a group seven. Guide was informative and caring. Cave was chilly. Footing was slippery in spots due to ice but guide alerted us to areas of ice. Fun.

4.00After a very pleasant short walk through the lava forest the cave appears. Our guide Toda was very knowledgeable about the area and had excellent English language skills. The cave requires good footwear and some agility (but not too much). We spent about an hour in the cave, it had remnants of huts inside from the locals using the area for silkworm production. A worthwhile experience, and good value for money. Overalls, helmet and headlight all provided.

5.00The hike to the cave was pretty much flat on the trail through the forest. It was beautiful ! As a 5’1” person that first step down the ladder into the cave was a bit challenging, but our guide, Tada, guided me down that first step. Along the trail and inside the cave Tada explained so much about the history, formation, and use of this cave. He has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about Mt Fuji and the forest surrounding it. I highly recommend going on this hike and climb into the ice cave. I’m 65 years old and had no major problems hiking and climbing 110 meters inside and around rocks in the cave. It’s worth the experience and I’d do it again!

5.00My dad and I had a great time! Guide used whatsapp to communicate to keep us in the loop. Pick up and drop off at hotel. Really cool to walk a small part of the forest and climb around in the wind cave. The tour was physically demanding maybe a 6/10. It is dark and icy so keep that in mind when booking also cold (fleece lined pants, a tee and jacket along with the gloves and overalls provided - very comfortable temp wise) would recommend :)
