What To Expect
Welcome to the Flavours to Freedom Tour. We’ll begin at Coffee at The Vine in the Company’s Garden, where we’ll introduce Cape Town’s complex history over indigenous teas, traditional treats, and storytelling.
Company's Gardens
The Company’s Garden, established in 1652 by the Dutch East India Company, was the first colonial settlement in Cape Town. Enslaved people from Africa and Asia cultivated crops to supply passing ships, reinforcing the colony’s reliance on forced labour. The garden symbolises both colonial expansion and the exploitation of enslaved communities.

5.00A pleasant afternoon with Olivia, who was very knowledgeable and shared her knowledge with the attendees. There was a nice mix of food establishments and the walk from site to site was filled with information.

5.00We took the Flavours to Freedom tour in early November with Justin for an afternoon all around Cape Town. The tour focused not just on food but the history behind the food and why food had made its way to Cape Town. We loved the few food stops we made and we loved the way Justin talked us through the origins of various different types of food. A huge bonus was seeing the various streets and alleys of Cape Town; we never would have done something like this on our own. Loved this tour!!!!
