Zelve Open Air Museum
Zelve Open Air Museum is one of Cappadocia’s most fascinating historical sites, once serving as a vibrant village carved entirely into volcanic rock. The area features rock-cut churches, monasteries, dwellings, and tunnels spread across three valleys. Used by Christians and Muslims for centuries, Zelve reflects the region’s unique cultural coexistence and monastic life. Visitors can explore cave rooms, ancient chapels, and enjoy panoramic views of fairy chimneys and dramatic rock formations. Today, Zelve offers an open-air walking experience where history, nature, and breathtaking landscapes come together, making it a must-see stop on the Cappadocia Red Tour.
Pasabaglari Muze ve Orenyeri
Paşabağ (Monks Valley) is one of Cappadocia’s most iconic sites, famous for its unique mushroom-shaped fairy chimneys with multiple rock caps. These extraordinary formations were once used as hermit cells by monks seeking solitude and spiritual life. Visitors can walk among the fairy chimneys, explore ancient cave dwellings and chapels carved into the rocks, and enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The area offers an easy walking path, making it accessible while still feeling natural and untouched. Paşabağ is a perfect stop to experience Cappadocia’s geological wonders, history, and peaceful atmosphere all in one place.

I saw Cappadocia in a YouTube video and decided I had to go on a solo trip. I booked with Mehmet Gökçe and he made it a trip of a lifetime. Not only did I get a private hike through the beautiful landscape (jaw dropping colors and fairy chimneys) but he also organized for me to experience many facets of the culture: pottery, love valley (aptly named after the phallic shaped rock formations;)), Uchisar castle, a hot air balloon ride at dawn, and I stayed overnight in a cave. I still tell people about this trip. Thank you for being so kind and taking me on this adventure.
