Apgar Visitor Center
Apgar Village, nestled at the foot of Lake McDonald, is a lively stop along Glacier National Park’s Going-to-the-Sun Road. Named for early settler Milo Apgar, the village evolved from its farming roots into a hub for tourism. Visitors can rent bikes or boats, explore the Apgar Nature Center, shop for unique gifts, or enjoy local dining. Rich in history and cultural significance for indigenous communities like the Kootenai, Apgar Village offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, heritage, and outdoor adventure.

5.00We had a wonderful day, despite intermittent rain. Dan was a wonderful guide, with great knowledge of the geography, geology and history of the region. We asked a lot of questions and he had the answers, as well as offering up a lot of interesting facts about Glacier. The length of the tour was just right, and we were in a smaller-than-expected group (likely because of the weather), and enjoyed the other couple’s company. We would highly recommend this trip, especially with Dan.

5.00Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and shared a lot of interesting information with us. We visited several beautiful places, and every stop was worth seeing. The picnic by the shore was very relaxing. The final shopping stop was also a great experience, with good-quality items at very reasonable prices. Highly recommend this tour!

5.00Dan was our tour guide. He was wonderful! Extremely knowledgeable and very personable. We got to see a grizzly bear! He took great photos of our group. Lunch was delicious! We will definitely do this again. Thanks Dan! And Becky who coordinated it and was very flexible with some schedule changes we had. Don’t miss this tour!

5.00This was such a great experience! I was there on a rainy day in May when many things aren’t yet open, but I was still able to see so much of the park and appreciate its beauty. Adam was a very fun and knowledgeable guide!
