At QT we arrange top quality motorcycle tours ranging from 3 to 8 days. We are specialized on tours of northern Vietnam; Ha Giang & Cao Bang with majestic mountains and plentiful ethnic minorities.
Our customers consist of solo riders, couples, families, groups of friends and motorcycle clubs. Majority of tours at QT are custom made to meet the motorcycle skill level, time available and interest of our customers. You may ride behind our skilled guides/drivers or if sufficiently experienced drive yourself. On tours of four or more days we can include some light trekking for those interested.
Our guides are local resources with a passion and pride for motorcycling. They are mainly from poor backgrounds with good verbal English skills. They are not anthropologist nor historians, but they are a jolly team who know their culture and the unbeaten paths. And, love to show you the best that this region has to offer.

This is not a hate review; it is a warning about safety concerns and unprofessional organization. QT Motorbikes & Tours and Buffalo appear to operate together, as our group consisted of customers from both companies. Therefore, this review applies to both companies. I joined the Easy Rider tour. Inappropriate motorcycles The first thing everyone in our group noticed was that we were riding the smallest and oldest motorcycles compared to every other tour group we met on the loop. Most of us were on 110cc scooters, while only the group leader had a 150cc motorcycle. These scooters are suitable for city commuting and are commonly used by locals because they are cheap and economical. However, local riders are often much lighter than international tourists. I weigh almost 100 kg. When you add the weight of the driver, luggage, and passenger, the motorcycle was clearly operating at the limit of its capabilities. Serious safety concerns The lack of power created dangerous situations throughout the trip. Our group leader rode ahead on his more powerful motorcycle and rarely waited for the rest of the group. As a result, our drivers constantly tried to catch up. Because the scooters were underpowered, overtaking vehicles on steep mountain roads often took far longer than it should have. There were multiple occasions where we spent several bends riding alongside trucks while trying to complete an overtake. This happened uphill and sometimes around blind corners where visibility was limited. This unnecessarily increased the risk of a serious collision. Uncomfortable ride quality The overloaded and underpowered scooters also made the ride far less comfortable than it should have been. Because drivers were constantly trying to maintain speed and avoid losing momentum, they often could not slow down properly before potholes, rough sections, or rocky surfaces. Otherwise, they would struggle to accelerate again. The result was that we frequently hit bumps at speed. With small wheels, suspension already compressed by the weight, and insufficient engine power, every impact was transferred directly to the rider. After several hours of this, my legs, knees, arms, and shoulders were exhausted from constantly absorbing shocks and trying to stabilize myself. Poor group management The group leader had a significantly more powerful motorcycle than everyone else and made little effort to keep the group together. It often felt as though he was more interested in entertaining the young woman he was carrying than leading the group professionally. Unlike many other tour groups we encountered, we rarely slowed down at scenic viewpoints where incredible photos could have been taken directly from the road. Other groups would slow down or briefly stop so everyone could enjoy the views and take pictures. Instead, we often rode straight past the best viewpoints and stopped later in places that were far less interesting. Many of our stops were simply at cafés. On the first day it felt like we would ride for 15 minutes and then spend 20 minutes standing at a café, even when nobody wanted to buy anything and everyone had finished taking photos within a few minutes. Arrogant response to concerns On the first day I asked whether the company had more powerful motorcycles available. A staff member from the office contacted me and claimed that I had specifically booked the smaller motorcycle and would need to pay an additional 1,200,000 VND for a larger one. This made no sense because none of us had been given any motorcycle options when booking. Furthermore, the price we paid was similar to—or even higher than—other companies that were already using larger motorcycles as standard. When I tried to explain the safety concerns created by the lack of power, the response I received was essentially: "If your motorcycle breaks down, we will give you another one." That completely misses the point. A motorcycle failure while riding on mountain roads can have serious consequences. The concern was not convenience—it was safety. Final thoughts I absolutely recommend doing the Ha Giang Loop. It is one of the most beautiful experiences in Vietnam. However, based on my experience, I strongly recommend choosing a different company. The combination of underpowered motorcycles, questionable safety practices, poor group leadership, and dismissive customer service made this one of the most disappointing tour experiences of my trip. I would not book with QT Motorbikes & Tours or Buffalo again.

Overall an incredible experience, but want to take a moment to shout out my driver and also leader, Pao. Coming into this, I was really nervous about being on a bike, but Pao made me feel completely safe. He was responsible, caring, knowledgeable and professional local guide who checked in on me and kept the entire group organized and safe. The route was filled with stunning stops and breathtaking views. There was also a good balance of small riding groups and larger social gatherings at homestays - from karaoke nights to hitting a local bar on the final evening. The food was good, though it got a bit repetitive by the end. The only difficult part was the pick-up and drop-off process with the bus which was quite chaotic and confusing, so be prepared for some administrative messiness. Though I was really nervous at the beginning, by the end I was really happy to have done it
