You will ride through the picturesque scenery of Shimanami Kaido, visiting local islands and enjoy the ever-changing views above and beneath bridges.
Along the way you'll make stops and meet local people. Enjoy a lunch made with local produce and also stop by for some ice cream at another local shop.

The master local guide grew up near Winston Salem, NC, and has had a love of cycling and the ocean since he was a kid. He worked at dive shops in Roatan, Honduras, where he led dive and snorkel tours. After graduating from school, he lived in Hawaii for 5 years. His wife grew up near Onomichi and he calls Mukaishima home now. He loves cycling the Shimanami Kaido and helping people discover this beautiful part of Japan.

What To Expect
Shimanami Kaido
Cycling Tour A) Onomichi-Shimanami Beach Enjoy the world-famous Shimanami Kaido with this cycling tour to Innoshima Amenity Park. Led by a Mukaishima resident, we’ll be cycling through Mukaishima on our way to the scenic views of the Innoshima Bridge before arriving at Innoshima Amenity Park. We’ll then enjoy some time on the beach and have a chance to relax, swim in the ocean, or enjoy the seaside cafe. Afterward, we’ll cycle back to Onomichi, enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Tachibana and south Mukaishima Island. Lunch, the ferry, and e-bike rentals are included with this tour. Total duration for 5~6 hours.

Cycling Tour B) Hidden Mukaishima Ride + Takamiyama Summit Hike with Garden Lunch After exploring Mukaishima by bike, you will hike Mount Takamiyama, one of the best viewpoints in the Shimanami Islands. This approximately 2-hour round-trip hike offers panoramic views over the Seto Inland Sea. Afterward, return to Mandarina to enjoy a three-course waterfront garden lunch (included). This tour is available with the 9:00 AM departure only. Please note: Mount Takamiyama is a 283-meter climb. This hike is not recommended for beginners, children, or those who are not relatively physically fit. Total duration for 5~6 hours.

A taste of the Shimanami Kaido

5.00I didn't know much about Japan before planning our trip but my husband loves to cycle so once I read about the Shimanami Kaido I knew we had to go. We are in our late 60's and are active plus it was our first trip to Japan. We didn't want to spend days cycling but wanted to give it a taste. We met Alex at a very convenient location and he accommodated us perfectly! He cycles everywhere in the area, is very knowledgeable and will stop for optional pictures along the way. We stopped for lunch and a popular gelato shop as we cycled through amazing scenery over 20 miles. It was a great day! Thank-you Alex!

5.00The bicycle tour was totally awesome. The scenery was breathtaking. Alex, our guide was super, and took us at a comfortable pace. Stops for ice cream were fun too. Totally amazing way to spend half of a day.
