Enjoy an awesome and interactive underwater eco-tour wearing Hartley diving helmets. One's head stays dry. Glasses, contacts, make-up, and big hair are fine. Just walk, breathe and smile. Easier than snorkeling, yet more interactive than scuba diving. Even pet and hold fish while you are having your photo taken! Optional photos for extra charge.
Simply walk down the 9 fooot ladder, which is attached to the boat, and walk on the sandy bottom, right in front of thriving Bermuda coral reefs. Meet and interact with Celebrity Fish: Diana the angelfish, Charles the Hog fish, Donald the grey snapper and many more! Undersea walk lasts approximately 30-40 minutes. Join Greg Hartley for a enlightening, sugar coated biology lesson, that is the most fun ever. We have thick, full length, warm wet suits when water temp is below 80F. Hotel pickup and drop-off not included. The boat docks at Dockyard, by the Moongate where the ships are.

What To Expect
Hartley's Undersea Walk AKA Shallow water helmet diving, is the easiest way to visit the undersea. Just walk smile and breathe.We dive in 11-14 feet of water, on the sandy bottom. Divers hang on to the grab-bar (7' One inch PVC pipe), and are guided about by the fish whisperer, Greg Hartley. Learn about the undersea life, hold or caress trained/tamed Celebrity Fish. Meet George the blue stripped grunt, and Herb the red speckled hind. Dive is 30-40 min, Tour is 3-4 hrs. Wetsuits when water below 80F. Photos and a short video on a thumb drive are available for about $25PP. Experience inspiration.

5.00The father/son company arrived on time as described. I was nervous about how the helmets would go on. You make your way down the ladder in about 12 foot of water. When you feel the weight of the helmet go onto your shoulders you continue down the ladder, under the water. Super simple. No change in breathing or anything. The son stays on top and monitors the air and the father goes under with you and shows you the fish and coral while pointing to words in a stick to identify the species. Very informative and enjoyable. I paid the extra $50 for my husband and I to have the photos. They were put directly onto my phone which was super nice. Hard to believe that fish actually allow you to hold them, but they do. We held a snapper.

Mr. Hartley and his son were outstanding hosts who combined professionalism, hospitality, and entertainment to create a one-of-a-kind adventure. They made everyone feel comfortable and safe while sharing their knowledge, enthusiasm, and genuine love for Bermuda's beautiful underwater world. Their friendly personalities and sense of humor kept the entire experience enjoyable and engaging for both adults and children alike. The helmet dive itself was incredible, allowing us to get up close with colorful marine life in a way that was both unique and accessible. What really set this excursion apart was the personal attention and care that Mr. Hartley and his son provided throughout the trip. If you're visiting Bermuda and looking for a memorable family-friendly adventure, we highly recommend Hartley’s Helmet Dive. 5.00An incredible experience! A father & son team who are totally organized & made sure we had an experience we will never forget. Very easy to do, felt completely safe and absolutely amazing to walk along the coral reefs, touch the fish. We were in total awe & highly recommend this experience!!

5.00Excellent, was everything I hoped for. The guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out all of the species of fish and coral using a labeled sign. We saw an incredible amount of beautiful fish and some even let us hold them. The boat was located at a pier that was just a few minutes' walk from the cruise ship gangway.

1.00Gave the review a 1 only because I couldn’t give a 0. Don’t know if it was good or not. We were super excited to do this. We had heard good things and expected to see some amazing things. My wife loves snorkelling but I don’t so this was going to be our compromise. We were in Bermuda for a cruise and it stayed overnight. We had this planned for the second day but the night before we got an email saying it had been canceled. We thought maybe it was going to be due to weather as no reason for the cancellation was given. When my wife received an email as to the reason it was because we were the only two who had signed up for the tour. Very disappointing as we had paid over 300 for the two of us and while I understand that you have to make money I feel like if you cancel every time you don’t have all the people that you want that’s not a great way to run a tourism business

5.00This is a unique and fabulous experience for all people even if you can't swim. We did this back in 1992 during our honeymoon and decided to re-live it again. There is no where I know of where you can interact with exotic fish like this experience. A well worthwhile experience.

2.00The dive was fun. Spent ~30 minutes underwater in the helmet and enjoyed the fish and coral. 4.5 stars, great! Zero stars for the owner Greg. He was very rude and crude during the trip to the site. He made several sexual jokes about the British Monarchy and various Presidents of the United States, told one of the guests she looked like a hippo when putting on her dive weights, talked up and down various religions while pointing to a book in the cabin that “we should all read,” talked down to most of the guests (including a PhD grad) when they didn’t answer questions about the ocean or “how the universe works” exactly as he wanted, and refused to listen to or respond to his son Ben, who was seeking clarification on the plan for this particular dive. (Ben was very helpful and happy to talk with the guests but was clearly exasperated with his father.) I didn’t book a dive cruise to be preached at, told sexual jokes, hear how everybody on the boat (except Greg) clearly knows nothing, listen to the air get sucked out of the boat when Greg called a woman a hippo, or spend three hours watching a family bicker because one of them was unwilling to actually listen to anyone else on the boat. If this had been on land, my party would’ve left about five minutes in. Buyer beware – the dive is fun, the experience overall might be awkward and possibly horrible.

3.00Would I do the helmet diving again? Absolutely. The actual dive was brilliant. However, we spent the trip captive to Greg who said things that would get me banned from TripAdvisor if I repeated it here. For a little taste, he said something profane about one of the diver’s daughter and I thought I was about to watch that dad punch that Greg’s lights out. Ben was the best part of the trip and constantly apologized for his dad. Ben was great at explaining the process of diving and what to expect-he really made it for us. Ben, one of these stars are for you. Fish were great. Greg should retire and/or go to therapy. I’d need a strong drink to go into detail about some of the nonsense that man spews.
