  Communication, both in advance of our tour and on the day of, were excellent. Our tour driver, Shauna, was very kind and knowledgeable of the island. She went above and beyond to make it an incredible, unforgettable trip for us on the beautiful Isle of Skye!

  Spent a fabulous day with Shauna seeing breathtaking Isle of Skye. Having a private tour guide for the day was an amazing experience, best money we spent while in Scotland. Would highly recommend!

  We had an amazing day with Roddy as our guide in Skye. He’s an exceptional driver and his van was clean and comfortable. He met with us early to go over the plan and tailor the day, and everything flowed from there. From the Quiraing to the Old Man of Storr and from Highland coos to friendly shopkeepers, Roddy is professional, funny, and genuinely kind. What really stood out was how he connected us to Skye. He brought the island and its proud Scottish heritage to life in a way that made the experience “real”. The day flew by. Easily the best tour guide we’ve ever had.

  

  

  

• Big Adventure Through Isle of Skye

  My family took an Isle of Skye custom day tour with Roddy on April 30. We had the best time with him! He had us laughing from the time he picked us up until he dropped us off at the end of the day. We also appreciated his ability to pick up on our interests and get us the experiences we would enjoy. We mentioned seeing Highland cows, and he took us to two places to see them plus to Quirky Clay in Uig to buy locally crafted pottery cows. We could definitely tell that Roddy was a great guy when we visited Quirang. Coming down, when we came to a car in the ditch, Roddy was the first one out to help lift the car out. Then, just 5 minutes later, he got out again to help a visitor to reverse her car into a passing area when she couldn’t do it. He took us to a great coffee stop and another great stop for lunch (where we got to pet Highland cows!) We loved all of Roddy’s stories about different homes and buildings on the island. Of course the scenery was amazing, and we know Roddy found us viewpoints to best highlight it. We all said this was the best tour we ever had! Please know that we will recommend your company and Roddy specifically for Isle of Skye tours.

  We had one and a half days to tour Skye and John and Roddy made that time very worthwhile. We wanted to see as much of the island as possible in that limited time frame and John from MacLeod Heilan Tours really went out of his way to make that happen. He arranged for a half day afternoon tour with Roddy who picked us up at the train station and gave us a great introduction to the island and its way of life. His shared his local knowledge and shared his love for this unique place while delighting us with local tales and answering our questions. We came away with a much better understanding of island life. That great afternoon was made even better by a full day tour with John Sheedy who grew up on Skye and has returned to share his love of this special place with folks from all over the world. He was able to get us out to Niest Point Lighthouse as well as most of the other highlights of the island - picking us up at our hotel, making the most of our time with a quick and tasty lunch, and then getting us back to the train station just in time for a quick meal of fish and chips in Kyle of Lochash before boarding our train back to Inverness. His willingness to go out of his way to cover as much of the island as possible in the short time frame really was deeply appreciated and we hope to go back with other family members and tour with MacLeod Helian again. Their vehicles and attention to every detail made this a trip worth repeating!

  I can’t say enough about how great the tour was with MacLeod. The constant communication for both booking and the day of the tour made everything so easy. In my case I needed to ask a last minute question. I emailed the info email address and John responded very soon after and even gave me a call to go over the details. This was first class service. The tour itself was amazing. Roddy, my tour guide, was friendly, funny knowledgeable, and just an all-around awesome human being. He seemed to have a vested interest in making sure I got to see all the amazing sites in Skye. We traveled in a minivan type vehicle, very clean and very comfortable. Roddy even let me turn down the heat since I run hot lol. We visited all the locations that were listed on the tour description from the website. I was very happy to see we did not skip over anything. Roddy was very flexible with seeing certain sites, spending more time at one site versus another, or really any accommodations I asked for. No doubt I will be back and taking more tours with them on my next visit.

  We had an absolutely fabulous trip to Scotland with Macleod Heilan Tours! Our tour guide, Marco, was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable, had wonderful suggestions for extra stops, and was 100% flexible in order to meet the needs of our large group. I couldn't recommend Macleod Heilan Tours or Marco more for anyone traveling to Scotland. Sincere thanks for an unforgettable trip!

  My husband and I booked a one-day private tour with Macleod Heilan Tours, and it became one of the highlights of our entire Scotland trip. From the start, communication with John was clear and reassuring, which made planning around our ferry from Mallaig simple. Our guide, Roddy, was outstanding. He welcomed us warmly, asked what we most wanted to see, and somehow fit it all in—Old Man of Storr, Quiraing, Fairy Glen, Fairy Pools, Sligachan Bridge, and more. He shared history, local stories, and plenty of laughs along the way, all while navigating those narrow roads with ease. He was thoughtful about photo stops, patient during our Fairy Pools hike, and even had a little treat ready when I came back tired but happy. Lunch at the Uig Hotel was relaxed and scenic, and by the end of the day it felt less like a tour and more like a day out with a friend. When an accident blocked the road and we missed our ferry back, Roddy went above and beyond—checking with locals, making calls, and personally ensuring we had a safe place to stay overnight. Roddy’s love for Skye shines through in everything he does. We’ll never forget this day, and we highly recommend Macleod Heilan Tours to anyone wanting to truly experience the beauty and spirit of the Isle of Skye.
