If you're visiting Kauai, you absolutely can't miss seeing the stunning NaPali Coast. We offer a one-of-a-kind experience to do just that. As a Native family-run company, we are very fortunate to have been right here at our shop for 200 years, gathering our family's documented history to share about the NaPali Coast. Our Captains and Crew would love to share their very own culture and history with you on our tours. You can choose from one of our four vessels for a more personal and comfortable 4.5 to 5-hour tour. Our vessels are just the right size to explore sea caves with comfort when the weather allows. We can't wait to have you on board!

LUNCH Please select your lunch options per person, we offer Ham, Turkey, Roast Beef, PB&J & Vegetarian. We can provide gluten-free bread if needed. Please inform us of any allergies within your group. Remember to send in your lunch order a week before your tour or at the latest, 24 hours before your tour. We'll default to Turkey sandwiches if we don't receive your lunch options. We also provide chips, soda, mixed juices, and water
AGE RESTRICTION Our age limit is age 4 years old and up on our larger vessels and age 9 and up on our smaller vessels.
PREGNANCY We make exceptions for pregnancies during our summer months only, ( June, July and August ) when the ocean conditions are calmer. Women who are expecting can participate in this tour up to 22 weeks gestation, along with their doctors approval. A doctor's note must be submitted by a doctor, directly to Makana Charters VIA email or fax and must be approved by management prior to booking a reservation. Please contact us to reserve once your note has been submitted.
DISABILITY For safety and liability reasons, we do not make any exceptions. We are not handicap accessible. If you feel that the individual can get on and off of the boat without any assistance, you may call the office to speak to someone directly.
What To Expect
Na Pali Coast State Wilderness Park
During our winter season, (late November to April) Our afternoon tours don’t offer snorkeling. We use that time for whale watching and sunset. Come join us for an amazing 5 hour snorkeling and lunch tour, on the breathtaking NaPali Coast together! This place holds immense historical significance and is home to a variety of sea life, including dolphins. Our Native family-owned co, has been a part of the Waimea community for 200 years, where we depart to the NaPali Coast, our families history is beyond imaginable from history books being the first to sail foreigners on our family's sailing double hulled sailing canoes to NaPali Coast by documented history. We're excited to share our rich history and heritage with you. Sharing their own stories and culture to create a truly memorable experience. Please choose from our four comfortable catamarans, which offer the same fantastic tour experience. Weather permitting, we'll explore multiple sea caves and snorkel in pristine waters.
Waimea Canyon State Park
Also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, this scenic state park overlooks the colorful Waimea Canyon, which stretches over 14 miles and is more than 3,600 feet deep.

5.00We had an absolutely wonderful time on the NaPali Boat Tour offered by Makana Charters and Tours. The crew was terrific and engaging as well as very informative about the area history. The sandwiches were very good and juices, soda and water were plentiful. We were fortunate to have such beautiful morning and calm waters that Captain Makata (hope I spelled correctly) took us on an extra treat further down the coast entering some of the most precious and pristine NaPali sea caves. We went inside this one huge cave, did a 360 inside and shot out the entry point. All in all, the best tour trip during our one week stay in Kaua'i Hawaii.

5.00The captain, Mike, and crew, Connor and Liliana, were very knowledgeable and personable and a wealth of island information. A review can’t do this justice- you need to experience it for yourself! From sea caves to waterfalls, it’s truly an experience of a lifetime! Snorkeling was a lot of fun too. We did snorkel on the summer afternoon excursion. There was some confusion on that at first due to the web site. Come prepared with a bathing suit and towel- I highly recommend snorkeling or swimming- it’s very calm where they stop for that. The seas on the way out and in were big- and in my opinion that made the ride even more fun- they navigated them well! When the captain says it’s ok to stand up front- do it, and feel the wind!!

My daughter is 12 years old and loved seeing all the fish when we snorkled l. They took us through caves and saw waterfalls along the way. It was magnificent! They provide all snorkeling gear and sandwiches with chips as well as a variety of drinks. You will not be disappointed.

5.00This tour was absolutely amazing!! The views were spectacular, the boat ride was smooth and the tour guides were amazing. The guides were extremely accommodating and friendly. We did 5 main excursions while we were in Hawaii and we enjoyed all of them, but this one was my favorite. I would highly recommend it!!

5.00My family and I set out on a snorkeling trip along the stunning Napali coast, and it was truly unforgettable! We were so amazed by all the natural beauty we saw. Our captain, Rob, and his crew members, Elijah and Lili, made the trip even better. They were so engaging and knowledgeable, which made the boat ride both fun and educational. We never got bored with their expertise and insights. Since it was our first time snorkeling, safety was our top priority. But the crew took great care of us, guiding us through everything. Their professionalism and attention to detail made sure we had a safe and enjoyable experience. Overall, our snorkeling adventure along the Napali coast was incredible. We were so lucky to have such a wonderful crew and got to see the amazing lava tubes, caves, waterfalls, cliffs, and valleys. It was a truly memorable journey that we’ll always treasure. 5.00Fantastic boat trip! The staff is friendly but not intrusive, and they share interesting facts during the tour. They treated us to stunning views of the Na Pali Coast, entering some caves, showing us dolphins, and we stopped at a nice spot for snorkeling for an hour. We appreciated that freedom was given to those who did not wish to snorkel or simply wanted to swim or dive, to do as they pleased. For lunch, they provided us with a sandwich and a bag of chips each. We had requested two vegetarian sandwiches at the time of booking, and we were accommodated. There are restrooms on the boat. It was a beautiful experience! Recommended!
