What makes our activity unique is that it is born from a family and shared history, in which tradition and passion for Chilean cuisine were transformed into a cultural experience. My sister and I created it with dedication, organizing events and tastings to promote local products and discover the history of our cuisine. She, a chef and journalist, was instrumental as a creator and culinary soul, bringing all her talent to the kitchen. For us, the empanada, with the wonderful recipe of our grandmother, symbolizes the Chilean identity; preparing it is a way to connect with our traditions. The most important thing is to have fun cooking, sharing, learning the secrets of the recipe and enjoying a bit of Chile in every bite.

We will share with you a cooking class where you will learn the techniques and secrets of the famous Pine Empanadas, a special recipe of our beloved grandmother. We’ll talk about the ingredients that make it up: dough, stuffing or pine (onion, meat, raisins, olives and egg) and the famous Chilean pebre (tomato, onion and coriander). We will cook the ingredients of the patty, and teach you to organize the elements to fill and close them. We will work the dough, cut it and make the classic shapes, then heat the oven to the right temperature and bake them until golden brown. We will also make the delicious pebre that accompanies them, to finally sit at the table to taste the traditional Peña con Pebre Chilean Pine Empanada. Ask me if you have any special needs and we will see how to adapt to you. We love to share with people from different cultures and will be happy to share with you, whoever you are.

This class is amazing! Valentina is very nice, professional, and patient. I did the class along with my parents, my sister, and our respective partners on our first night in Santiago. It was a great start to our Chilean adventure. The food was delicious, and preparing every single ingredient was amazing. I highly recommend this class! Everything is great and delicious. You will learn a lot and get to go home with an amazing recipe.

Had a wonderful afternoon cooking with Valentina. She was welcoming and made me feel at home. She was kind enough not to cancel the tour even though I was the only one that booked.

Fantastic evening at Valentina's place! She was a wonderful host and made the night so much fun. She shared her family recipe for empanadas de pino and taught us how to make them. A beautiful way to dive into Chilean culture. Thank you, Valentina. Carola e Dario

This was hands-down one of the best cultural experiences of my entire semester abroad. If you’re looking for something authentic, educational, and genuinely warm, this is an absolute must-do. Valentina was incredibly accommodating from the very first message. She tailored the class to my preferences and interests, answering all my questions with enthusiasm even before we met. When I arrived, she welcomed me into her cozy apartment easily accessible by metro. It felt like stepping into a friend’s home rather than a formal cooking class. What truly set this experience apart was the care Valentina took in teaching. She didn’t just show me how to fold and fill different styles of empanadas (which we did plenty of!); she dove deep into the rich history of the empanada, explaining its origins, regional variations across Latin America, and the thoughtful reasons behind every technique and ingredient. I left with a real appreciation for why Chilean empanadas taste the way they do and why certain steps matter so much for texture and flavor. Her passion is contagious. I also loved that we conducted the entire lesson in Spanish. Although Valentina is perfectly fluent in English, she supported my language goals beautifully—speaking clearly, patiently explaining terms, and gently correcting me when needed. It was the perfect immersive experience that made me feel like I was truly connecting with Chilean culture. By the end, I was proudly taking home a tray of my own empanadas (which turned out surprisingly delicious—my Chilean host family can attest) and a head full of wonderful memories. Valentina has a true gift for teaching and hospitality. If you’re in Santiago, do yourself a favor and book this class. It’s far more than a cooking lesson—it’s a heartfelt cultural immersion you’ll remember long after your trip. Highly, highly recommended! Thank you, Valentina!

My wife and I signed up for this experience and loved it! Usually we prefer to just eat empanadas but found this experience to be worthwhile. Valentina has so much knowledge and passion about empanadas it's inspiring. Highly recommend for everyone!

Valentina is amazing! I only knew how to fry eggs before I took her class but know I feel inspired to try more receipts (and now I also have a new signature thing that I make for my special guests and family). Muchas gracias, Valentina!

Valentina is amazing, she is so warm and welcoming. The class is so much fun and it's nice to get your hands in the dough. The empanadas are sooooo good and the dough is perfection. We talked a lot so the class went a little longer and it was great as there was no rush. Book this experience you will love it go hungry as they are filling and leftovers are great the next day. Can't wait to make them when you get home.
