Morning: Begin your journey with a picturesque drive from either Kathmandu or Pokhara to Sauraha, a gateway to Chitwan National Park. The tourist bus ride takes approximately 5–6 hours through scenic countryside. Afternoon: Upon arrival in the peaceful riverside town of Sauraha, settle into your jungle lodge surrounded by nature and tranquility. 3:20 PM – 5:30 PM: Dive into the rich heritage of the Tharu community with a guided village walk. Discover their distinctive homes, cultural traditions, and harmonious lifestyle. Afterwards, enjoy birdwatching along the Rapti River—keep an eye out for vibrant kingfishers, graceful egrets, and other tropical birds. 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Immerse yourself in vibrant Tharu dance, highlighting traditional rhythms and storytelling through movement.
Chitwan National Park
Start your day with a serene canoe ride (7:00 AM - 9:00 AM) on the Rapti River, silently gliding past basking crocodiles, rare gharials, and colorful water birds. Then, buckle up for a thrilling full-day jeep safari (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM) through Chitwan National Park. Traverse diverse landscapes, keeping an eye out for majestic rhinos, elusive tigers, wild elephants, and graceful deer. An expert naturalist will be your guide, sharing insights into the park's rich biodiversity.
Sauraha
After a hearty breakfast at your accommodation, head to the tourist bus station for your return journey to Kathmandu or Pokhara. As you leave Chitwan behind, carry with you vivid memories of exhilarating wildlife safaris, immersive cultural experiences, and the serene beauty of the Rapti River.
