At first glance, the Gràcia district of Barcelona appears to be the gatekeeper of the resurgent Catalan identity: “Free Catalonia!” graffiti scrawled in the backstreets, Catalan flags flying from so many balconies, the distinct sound of the Catalan language heard in cafés and eateries. But as one explores the covered markets, bakeries and small bodegas of this colorful, lesser-explored area, the politics du jour recede and the deep culinary roots of this unique culture come into view.

Senem was the guide for my tour, what a fabulous lady she is. Lots of laughs and so much knowledge around not just the food but the history as well. Tried some food I would never have known of. Thankyou so much. Heading to Lisbon soon will do a tour with your company there as well.

Our guide Guillermo was fabulous. We were a small group so moving from place to place was easy. We sampled Catalan food and drinks. And got to visit businesses that were authentic and not chains. I felt like we really got a genuine taste of great food and explored a new neighborhood. I learned so much!

Pam was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable of the local cuisine and the history around it. The tour of Gràcia was just as nice as the food itself. Definitely a highlight of our trip!

We had a wonderful time touring Barcelona with Senem. She was a great guide for our group and took us all over the city. She gave us a true variety, starting with breakfast, moving through snacks at the market, and ending with a great lunch. She gave a lot of context to the areas we walked through and helped explain the history. We would love to do it again and would recommend to others!

Had an amazing day with Senem our tour guide. Explored a fascinating and genuine area of Barcelona. The itinerary was perfect for us with a blend of food shops and Bodegas/small restaurants. All of the stops (and there were many) were of the highest quality. Nice, friendly small group. Senem was outstanding across the board……..very knowledgeable, great communication and took great care of our group. Highly recommended.

This was the highlight of my time in Barcelona. Pam was our guide and we would truly recommend her to anyone. Her knowledge and enthusiasm for the food, culture, and history of Catalunya was palpable and her personal passion for Gracia was infectious. We learned so much from her!

This was our third tour with Culinary Backstreet and like the other 2 was extremely well done. Ivan lead us through Gracia district sharing the history and giving us a taste of the typical cusine. We enjoyed tasting the variation of food and drink, which there was plenty of, from one district to another. I loved the village feel of Gracia. Ivan also shared some of his favorite places to eat in other areas of Barcelona. We'd definitely recommend this tour!!!

This was a great tour! Senem was an excellent, extremely knowledgeable, and very fun guide around Gracia. We took this tour early on during our stay, and it was a great start to our time in the city: We discovered so many delicious and fascinating foods which greatly influenced (and immensely improved) the rest of our time in Barcelona. Highly, highly recommend taking this tour!
