Great Meteoron Monastery
Visitors to the Great Meteoron Monastery, the largest and oldest monastery in Meteora, will step back in time as they explore its historic halls, stunning frescoes, and fascinating museum. Perched atop a towering rock formation, this monastery offers breathtaking panoramic views of Meteora’s unique landscape. Guests will discover its rich history, dating back to the 14th century, and admire its impressive architecture, including the main church (katholikon) adorned with remarkable Byzantine frescoes. Our guide will provide insights into monastic life, the significance of relics housed in the museum, and the monastery’s role in preserving Greek Orthodox heritage.

5.00The route designed is very complete. It took us almost 7 hours, entering 3 monasteries. It also signs viewpoints and photography points. The only thing to improve is that some points are not completely well located (but it is easy to locate them by looking at the map).

So I found the app familiar to browsing.It works also with GPS so it is easy to operate. I love exploring at my own pace and the Visit Meteora smart guide provided so many tips about the Meteora monasteries , traditions and also fun facts!! It absolutely worths the purchase!

5.00I knew beforehand that Greece is much more than sea and beaches, so while I was exploring options as to where to go for a day trip, Meteora stood out. It was not too far from the sea and I often saw it is listed as one of the top recommendations of places to visit. So, when I got there, the Smart Audio Guide turned out to be of great help to explore this location in great detail and, most important, at my own pace. I highly recommend it!
