It is an ancient tradition in which huge multicolored comets, some more than 20 meters in diameter, rise in the sky as a symbol of union between the living and their deceased loved ones.
Antigua Guatemala, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a colonial gem surrounded by volcanoes and recognized for its cobblestone streets, baroque churches and colorful squares. Founded in the 16th century, it preserves imposing monuments such as the Arch of Saint Catherine, the Cathedral of Saint Joseph and the Church of La Merced, which reflect its historical splendour.
