What To Expect
We proceed into old Riyadh, starting in the downtown area, visiting the traditional Dirah Souq (famous for buying antique carpets and other useful Saudi heritage antiques). The walk is infused with the aromas of sandalwood fragrance and other scents of the orient. The Souq is known for men’s clothing and it is entertaining to watch the auction which takes place every Friday
Al Masmak Fortress
After this, we visit the Masmak Fort which is just walking distance from the Old Souq and whose importance is linked to the creation of the 3rd Saudi Kingdom, the modern one we live in. The fortified palace was built during the reign of Abdullah bin Rashid in the year 1895 A.D. to serve as a military garrison for the army of Abdullah bin Rashid. His Majesty King Abdulaziz, the father of the today’s nation, captured the fort in 1902, marking the beginning of the reconquest of Arabia by the House of Saud.

5.00Access to Sky Bridge is a bit hidden, but then it goes up to the wonderful bridge which allows great views of the city.
Not really worth the visit unless you are bored

3.00We went to the kingdom towers and the signage to the bridge was not very clear. After asking a few people and finally finding the place..going up…paying…it seemed like the staff were bored , they used sign language instead of warm friendly welcomes. Went for sunset and it was really warm up there - we couldnt wait till it got dark so we left

3.00We have changed our Hotel and have given the new hotel information into the Tripadvisor booking “update your pickup location”and got a confirmation, but our guide was at pickup time in the former hotel. Tripadvisor has not updated this information to the Tour operator. So we lost over one hour of our half day trip. Our guide Khuram was very friendly and gave good explanations during the tour. He tried everything to be on time at the Skybridge that we were able to see the sunset, but it was gone already. Our learning is that we will never update changes to Tripadvisor anymore, only directly to the Tour operator.
