What To Expect
Porta Nuova
It is the oldest street of the city of Palermo. It was Phoenicians who traced the road that divided the city in two parts and connected the old port to the necropolis that was out Palermo.
The cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Palermo, located in Palermo, Sicily, southern Italy. It is dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.

5.00Lorenzo gave us a great tour around the center of palermo. He did a fantastic job showing us the hidden gems and giving us backround information about the history of Palermo and the places we visited. We recommend to do the guide at the beginning of your stay, because you can try a variety of sicilian food and wine. At the end of the tour he gave us various tips what else we should try. Thanks for the good time Lorenzo.

5.00We took the Secret Food Tour in Palermo on the second leg of a five week visit to Sicily in April 2026. We arranged this tour for our first full day in Palermo because we find that walk around food tours give us both a geographical and cultural orientation to each new destination and sometimes give us ideas about where we might return for lunch or dinner. We had taken Secret Food Tours previously in Rome and Naples and were more than satisfied in both cases. Our Palermo food tour began in late morning at the Porta Nuova entrance to the historic centre of the city. We began with arancine at the Sfrigola bakery, continued on to the chaotic but fascinating tastes of the Mercato Ballarò (for pizza, pasta, nuts and a Sicilian liquor), then coffee and finally giant cannoli from the legendary I Segreti del Chiostri (just behind the Quattro Canti) where the tour ended. Emma was our animated and good humoured tour guide and she nicely blended her familiarity with the different specialties and areas with her responsibility to shepherd us along within a three hour or so timeframe. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour!

5.00Lorenzo was fab! Great trip - arrive hungry! We had so many lovely tastings - the best pasta I’d had this trip. Not overdose on information which is great and many stops so don’t worry about lots of walking. We are a family of 4 in our 70s and 30s and would highly recommend this on your first couple of days so you can get a feel for Palermo!
