Teatro Massimo
The opera teathre of Palermo is famous as the location of the most dramatic scene of The Godfather III. Anyway, this monument is also a symbol of the rebirth of the city after decades of Mafia violence.
The longest wall painting in Italy (70 meters long) represents some of the most known mafia victims and is part of an urban renovation project. It is both the chance to become familiar with the victims' faces and to shoot some good pictures!

Great guide, super informative, began and ended as scheduled. The time flew because the stories were so interesting and engaging; it’s a piece of history that enlightened our visit to Sicily.

We stumbled upon this place by chance. I liked that there were many young people who listened attentively to the explanations about the scourge of drug trafficking and its connection to the Mafia. The museum displays the breeding ground for organized crime to thrive due to extreme poverty, the crisis of wars, and the vulnerability of the perspective of easy money, adding to corruption in power.

Really good 3 hour walking tour with Valeria who is passionate about the subject and the threat the Mafia were and remain to the State. So many parallels to life in Ireland over the years and the threat the PIRA were to the Irish State. The trip takes you through the Capo market where you get to stuff your face in the shortest time possible as well. Highly recommended.
