The Grand Palace
The Grand Palace was constructed together with the founding of Bangkok in 1782 when King Rama 1 ascended to the throne and founded a new dynasty. The Grand Palace is very important as it used to be the palladium of the state. It was used for both the royal residence and the administrative center of the country in the government system of absolute monarchy. Today, the palace is used just for ceremonials. The architectural plan of this palace was almost identical in every detail to the Grand Palace of the former capital of Ayutthaya (about 600 years ago) because the King wanted to recreate the glory of the city as it was in the past. So it was completely first built in traditional Thai style. However, at various periods, the influences from other nations affect to the architecture in Thailand in different reigns such as the Chinese elements introduced by King Rama 3 in the early 19th century and the western building style introduced by King Rama 5 in the late 19th century.
Temple of the Emerald Buddha
The Emerald Buddha image, the most important Buddha image in Thailand is enshrined inside the ordination hall of the temple. The Emerald Buddha image wasn't cast from Emerald but was cast from high quality of green jade. We found the Buddha image in 1432. You come to Thailand, you should go and pray for your luck.

If you’re looking for a professional and well-managed tour, this is the one. Peach made sure everything flowed perfectly from start to finish. The Grand Palace is huge, but she knew exactly how to navigate it to make it enjoyable. Extremely happy with the quality of service.

Great communication with Poppy and Peter, Peter met us at the hotel. We had a very comfortable van. Peter was very personable, great sense of humor and very knowledgeable. Our tour was adjusted a little bit because we had already done some of the things, but we had a great day visiting the grand Palace, which was absolutely amazing Next we went on the long boats was fun and the big golden Buddha was amazing and last we went to Thailand’s third capital Arun. This was a great way to end our trip in Thailand. Don’t miss this.

Pipot is a GREAT tour guide. He explained in full detail what we were seeing, and placed everything in historical context. Pipot also was very sensitive to our personal needs, as near the end of our tour we were flagging from the 90+ heat. He and our driver, Tum, worked very hard to make the logistics of moving from place to place on Bangkok’s busy streets do-able. We STRONGLY recommend Pipot to anyone with an interest in Bangkok’s religious, cultural, and political history.

This was a beautiful and easy way to explore Bangkok’s main cultural sights. The Grand Palace was stunning, the Emerald Buddha was very special to see, and the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho was even more impressive in person. Wat Arun by the river was also a great place for photos. Poppy was the best part of the tour. She was patient, friendly, and explained everything clearly without making it feel like a lecture. She also made sure we were comfortable the whole time and never rushed us. We really appreciated how smooth and well organized the day was. Big thanks to Poppy for such a lovely experience!

Som was a wonderful guide. We had a great day with her in Bangkok. Even though we couldn’t do the grand palace due to the princess’s passing, Som rearranged our day to still show us a great time.
