What To Expect
Transfagarasan Highway
The Transfagarasan mountain road (or national road 7C) is one of the most spectacular roads in the world. Located in Romania, it runs through the Fagaras Mountains and has more tunnels and viaducts than any other road in Romania.
Carta Monastery
The Cistercian Abbey from Cârţa the monument has kept its impressive architecture: capitals, keystones, windows and consoles and even the 15th-century western portal. Today the church is frequented by the evangelical community of Cârţa.

Our guide, Florin, drove us around the different stops and answered all our questions on the places we were visiting as well as any other question we had on Romanian history and culture on the way. He was a good-humoured guide with a lot of knowledge about his country and we really enjoyed hearing his views and stories. We also enjoyed our time alone hiking up Balea lake and taking in the beautiful views of the Transfagarasan Highway.
