What To Expect
Pancake Rocks and Blowholes Walk
Punakaiki, the World famous Coast road is rated one of the top 10 Coastal drives in the World. Home to the Pancake Rocks, where the sea, wind and massive geological change have shaped the landscape creating fascinating stacked limestone rocks that the sea has eroded creating blowholes. Leaving from the central West Coast you will travel via the Great Coast Road, which is rated as one of the top 10 coastal drives in the World. With some of the best scenery on offer you will need a camera on hand to capture the views. This 45 minute drive will take you to the small coastal township of Punakaiki where you will get to view the famous blow holes and pancake rock natural formations. Your guide will give you time to explore the area and local shops before checking out the cavern near by or the Truman Track, a short walk to a coastal view point. The blow holes and pancake rocks is one of New Zealand’s must do activities and one not to be missed. Your tour guide will bring you back to your accommodation or the central business district. Pick up from Greymouth i-SITE Visitor Centre - Railway Station or central accommodation establishments.

5.00We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would highly recommend it to others. Our guide, Linda, was wonderful and literally thought of not only everything to see to make the tour enjoyable and special, but she also had additional items on hand that we might need due to some inclement weather. 10/10.

5.00Our guide Linda was fantastic. Very knowledgeable about everything from the history and geography of the area, to details of the trees and plants we saw along the way. Very gracious host taking care of every detail without hesitation! Views were spectacular and it was hard to capture the majesty and beauty of it all with a camera. The setting sun made for some amazing shadows and layering on the pancake rocks. The crashing waves and the thunderous pounding in the deep chasms required some vid/aud as well...if you don't believe in our creator God you will after this trip -awesome!

5.00Linda was the best tour guide I’ve ever had! Informative and fun information from the moment you’re picked up. Multiple stops at scenic spots. Accompanies and informs the entire pancakes rocks walk. So kind and interesting. Hilarious tidbits. You also stop for free fancy canapés and drinks at a beautiful beach hotel on the deck. So fabulous! I would take this tour again just to hang out with Linda! Pickup and drop off were a dream. The blowholes only blow water if it’s rough and high tide (I think?) and didn’t happen to be blowing when we went, but in no way did that detract from our wonderful tour.

5.00Linda was great! Knowledgeable, friendly and funny. Also very informative about the gold/coal mining and history of Greymouth. She knew all about the flora & forna as we drove around the stunning coastline. The sun came out and she said the blowholes were at their best!! Our pics are like postcards and WE WERE THERE! Advice : DO THIS TOUR! Great fun.
