What To Expect
This experience explains the distilling process at Sarina Sugar Shed, from the crushing of the cane to distilled cane spirit that creates our rum and liqueurs. Tasting includes an exclusive selection of Rum or Rum liqueurs not available on our regular tour. Running daily at 12pm, enjoy this tour on its own, or packaged with our 11am or 12.30pm Sugar Shed tour for the complete experience! This is a great experience for dedicated rum lovers or those interested in finding out more about the rum distilling process from sugar cane juice to the finished product! NOTE - Age 18+ only

5.00The tours at Sarina Sugar shed are really amazing. The people were friendly and the atmosphere was not rushed. The Rum Distillery tour that Betty ran consisted of 4 people and was so full of amazing information. All the processes on how they make the rum was so mind blowing. Also we were able to sample the liqueurs as well, not just rum. The people involved and the commitment from the owners to look outside the box to try different flavours is just the tip of the iceberg. And every bit of the process does not go to waste. Congratulations to you all. What an amazing job. We were also blessed to do the Sugar Shed tour which was run by Jess which consisted of 6 people and again is awesome. You learn about every way the sugar is made. You learn about the history, and the progress to how it affects daily life then and now. It’s amazing how far we have all come in just a century and what we now can accomplish in a short time. Thank you so much to both Betty and Jess for an absolutely amazing time. I would recommend this to anyone. It’s worth the money.

5.00Fantastic experience. Chloe was full of knowledge and very entertaining. Great price for a 30 minute experience where you get to try several of their runs and hear all about the distilling process.

5.00We did 2 tours. A tour of the rum distillery, led by the main distiller Sarah, and the sugar cane tour led by Jess. Both tours were educational and informative. As we are from the UK it is fascinating to learn why there is sugar cane, how it’s grown, harvested, processed and what products are made. Thank you Team.

4.00This was pretty interesting and there are lots of things to sample. Our tour leader Julie was lovely and offered lots of insight and information. The sampling of the liquors, jams and chutneys was good too.

3.00Great tour guide extremely knowledgeable. Downside the facility is owned by the Mackay Regional Council who do not have enough space to store the rum. Hence there was only some available to taste but none to buy at all. The distillery tour was in the same space as the sugar shed tour and comprised of being informed that this is the still, explained how the rum is made and have a tasting . Quite expensive for what it was.
